In the least surprising turn of events ever, angry console warriors have turned a seemingly innocuous tweet from the official Insomniac Games Twitter account into yet another silly debate around Sony vs Microsoft. In the lead up to launch for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, the Insomniac Games Twitter account has continued to tease screenshots and gifs from its next big game. They’ve all been inoffensive (and still are), but there are some folks among us determined to read a little too deep for the sake of yelling about their platform....

Control has tons of secrets, mystery, other dimensions, and other types of weird stuff. After all, this is a game where a fridge killed someone. Still, even after a dope main storyline and two DLCs, many questions have been left unanswered. One of the biggest ones is Ahti – the odd janitor who likes to call Jesse his assistant even though she is the Director. Throughout the game, players learn that this character is way more than just a simple mortal....

The first Texas Chain Saw Massacre movie caused a national uproar when it was released in 1974. And believe it or not, this wasn’t just because it misspelled the word “chainsaw.” Released in the faintly more innocent time of “before the internet,” the movie tricked audiences and authority figures alike. Both took the film’s claim that it was “based on a true story” at face value, and found its grimy images of women hung from meat hooks and men bisected by power tools off-putting....

Cruella was a vibrant, funny, and raucous ride which saw scrappy young seamstress and designer Estella go head to head with snooty fashion high priestess, and all round bad person, The Baroness in a funky, punky, spiky take on the protege outdoing the mentor trope. Emma Stone and Emma Thompson fizz and spark as the warring fashionistas, the outfits are fabulous, and the soundtrack is banging. Oh yeah, and at some point in the future, the plucky, if slightly deranged, upstart you’ve been rooting for the whole time is going to become a puppy murderer....

It’s often difficult to tell the difference between a roguelike game and a bullet hell game. Projectiles, fires, living beings, and shadows will flood the screen and overwhelm the character in either genre. Weapons that can clear out that chaos are invaluable, but these weapons are often difficult to use and unlock to maintain the game’s high difficulty. In Curse of the Dead Gods, that weapon is the mace. The lineup of maces has become a staple of expert builds for the express reason of clearing out rooms quickly without taking damage....

Cyberpunk 2077 is long, though not quite as lengthy as CD Projekt Red’s last game, The Witcher 3. If you beeline through the main story it should take about 18 hours to complete. Even if you ignore the side quests, playing through the first act will take about five or six hours. Some may struggle to progress through these opening hours, because the game does not really open up until after this section....

CDPR’s troubled Cyberpunk 2077 launch resulted in its removal from the PlayStation Network and Sony offering refunds to its customers. Now, it looks like the refund program will be ending operations from its dedicated web page on June 18. If you missed the saga, shortly after its launch last year, Cyberpunk 2077 was pulled from the PlayStation store after unsatisfactory performances. After Sony pulled the game, it offered refunds to anyone who purchased Cyberpunk 2077....

Covenants are a multiplayer mechanic that can add some interesting variance and perks to Dark Souls 3. Each covenant is charged with a different function and purpose that can often put them at odds with other covenants in multiplayer, forming an interesting dynamic behind the game’s main narrative and fleshing out the universe as a whole with their own histories. They also provide a lot more incentive to co-operate with other players, invade another player’s world, or even act as boss of another’s game....

Phoenix Labs has announced that after careful consideration of player feedback, a second account migration is necessary to provide Slayers with a more accurate representation of their progress, as well as more crafting materials, merits, rams, and aetherhearts. Following the release of Dauntless Reforged, Slayers were greeted with a robust new system meant to provide long-term progression and a greater sense of agency, but it was soon clear that something was missing in the system to keep the tempo of crafting and progress up to par with the old system....

Quantic Dream’s upcoming Beyond: Two Souls might not have everything in common with Heavy Rain - the story extends through 15 years; our protagonist, Jodie Holmes, explores connections to the afterlife as well as the physical world; and the action, judging from the gameplay footage released so far, has been markedly magnified - but the two share at least one common thread: David Cage’s desire to immerse players in another life....

The Ghost Rider has a long history and several manifestations such as Johnny Blaze, Noble Kale, Danny Ketch, Alejandra Jones, Robbie Reyes, The Cosmic Ghost Rider (Frank Castle), and the original Ghost/The Rider who rode a Woolly Mammoth. One name not found on this list, however, is Deacon St. John, the protagonist of Days Gone. Days Gone is one of the many PS4 exclusives to grace this generation, but also one slept on in comparison to bigger names like God of War....

As promised by indie director Hidetaka Swery, Deadly Premonition 2 has been receiving numerous updates since its launch in early July. The biggest complaint, the title’s abysmal framerate, was tweaked shortly after release and has just received another patch. The performance isn’t exactly what you can call “smooth,” but it will be noticeably better than the retail release. The update was released sometime over the weekend, as confirmed by producer Tomio Kanazawa....

Look, Sony, I don’t ask for much, but if you could remake Rogue Galaxy, that’d be swell. I’d settle for a true remaster, even. The PlayStation 2 turns 20 this month, and we’re celebrating some of the PS2’s greatest games. One of them just so happens to be a disappointment. How can a game be disappointingly great? Simple: bad timing. Rogue Galaxy came out in January 2007, just a month after the release of the PlayStation 3....

Destiny is an ever-evolving franchise that can get dizzying at times with how rapidly it changes. Things are about to change even more when Beyond Light launches later this year. One of the largest changes Bungie is making is incorporating the Destiny Content Vault (DCV for short). This system will retire content from the game and cycle it with new content or remastered content from the original Destiny like the Vault of Glass....

It’s Friday which means that Destiny 2’s unique salesman Xur has returned to the world for a limited time. Even though the exotic merchant continues to bring weapons and armor from the first year only, his arrival this week is actually more important to players than it has been in a while. The Dawning, a holiday focused seasonal event has made its return to Destiny and its changing things up this year, replacing modes like the Sparrow Racing League with Eva Levante and her baking oven....

Not since Destiny’s Taken King expansion has the game released new elemental Subclasses for players to experiment with. While the Stormcaller, Sunbreaker, and Nightstalker Subclasses added a large amount of variety to the game, the franchise has never seen a new element. That is where Destiny 2’s Beyond Light expansion changes the mold. This fall will introduce three new Subclasses tied to the new Stasis element. Instead of using the Light to destroy the enemies of the Traveler, players will instead harness the power of the Darkness to control the battlefield and shatter opponents into a million pieces....

Bungie enjoys hiding secrets and tidbits in their Destiny 2 trailers, and players have learned to actively seek them out in any new teaser. The latest Stasis trailer for Beyond Light may yet again be hiding codes of some kind that are teasing future content. Even before the expansion was officially unveiled, fans were trying to decipher banner images and sound recordings posted by Bungie to see if they could be hiding clues regarding the next big expansion of Destiny 2....

In Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Season of the Chosen, Bungie introduced the Cuirass of the Falling Star exotic chest armor. Guardians quickly became familiar with the damage capabilities of this new exotic item, some stating that it even rivals the popular exotic hunter helmet, Celestial Nighthawk. The Cuirass of the Falling Star has already displayed its power by easily clearing a lost sector in a matter of seconds, and even one-phasing a raid boss....

Over the weekend, Destiny 2 players discovered a way to glitch into one of the spaces from the new Last Wish raid, which will officially unlock this Friday. Glitching into that new raid space allowed players to open a chest and earn raid loot early. There has been a lot of discussion among players whether developer Bungie will punish those who glitch into the space and open the chest, but according to the developer, the gear won’t be taken away....
