Gavin Moore, the director behind Demon’s Souls PS5, has announced he will be leaving PlayStation following the closure of its Japan studio. Today, April 1, 2021, is the day PlayStation’s Japan studio is absorbed by its Worldwide Studios operation. There have been a number of casualties during that transition, one of the biggest of which was announced today. Gavin Moore, the director behind Demon’s Souls on PS5, has revealed he will be leaving PlayStation’s Japan studio after working there for 18 years....

If a comprehensive poll were put together to determine what Year One weapon the legions of Guardians would want to see upgraded in Destiny: The Taken King, the Gjallarhorn would more than likely top the list. The majority of Destiny fans admit to favoring the exotic due to its potency during the action-RPG’s Year 1 run, for the rocket launcher has helped lead them to a bunch of wins in the Crucible, the game’s popular PvP mode....

Destiny’s Lead Raid Designer teases the exciting new Challenge Mode feature coming to the Destiny King’s Fall Raid, which will introduce new challenges every week. In this week’s weekly Destiny update from Bungie, Lead Raid Designer Gavin Irby further fleshed out a new variant coming to the King’s Fall raid early next month. Some time early next month, Bungie will introduce Challenge Modes into Destiny’s newest raid, and offer players an additional test of ability and strength as they battle King’s Fall’s main baddies....

There is a wealth of Destiny 2 content on PVP, but very little on how to improve in PVE. Many content creators will display raids and missions, but without educating viewers on how to get better at playing Destiny 2. Professionals and streamers commonly focus primarily on PVP and do not offer instructional guides for PVE in general. While Destiny 2’s new Mercury patrol area offers “new” enemies to fight, Public Events to complete, and quests to explore, it will lack a few basic flourishes. No less than four of Destiny 2’s explorable zones are soon to be removed from the live game. This has understandably created a rush to experience all the content said zones have on offer, as well as old Raids. Thankfully, Bungie anticipated this and made the grind more tolerable, including an upcoming tweak to the acquisition of Sleeper Nodes on Mars. The main destinations leaving Destiny 2 for the Destiny Content Vault are Titan, Io, Mercury, and of course, Mars....

It’s the first Xur appearance since the launch of Destiny 2’s Curse of Osiris DLC and with that comes a new loot table of exotics that Xur can sell. Eventually Xur’s inventory will also grow to include some new items, like a Fated Engram and the Three of Coins, but for now, he is only selling the usual three armor pieces and one weapon. We say usual, but this week is anything but ordinary for Xur....

Although there is still a considerable wait before Destiny 2 is finally available on consoles and later on PC, that hasn’t stopped the fan base from using any excuse to generate a little excitement. This week, for example, PS4 fans are celebrating a presumed pre-load date for Destiny 2, which will prepare them for instant access ahead of the official release date. One of the features coming to Destiny 2 in its next major patch next week is a batch of new, unique rewards for weekly Nightfall strikes. In developer Bungie’s latest weekly blog, it was revealed how players will be able to earn this rare and unique loot. The short answer is that these rewards will be random drops for completing a Nightfal Strike in Destiny 2. But of course, there’s a little more nuance to that....

The full details have been revealed as to how Destiny 2 players will earn the controversial Redrix’s Broadsword in the game’s upcoming fourth season that begins with the release of the Forsaken expansion. As explained by developer Bungie in its blog this week, Redrix’s Broadsword will be unlocked by way of a Crucible quest, rewarding players with a basically identical version of the Redrix’s Claymore, the current season’s most exclusive PvP reward....

Following news that a mysterious new video game cartoon is coming from the producers of Adventure Time, there is speculation that the cartoon is in fact a Castlevania TV show. From the Netflix-exclusive Skylanders series to the upcoming Mega Man cartoon, it certainly appears that gaming studios are putting forth a big effort to bring new audiences to its video game franchises. While it remains to be seen whether any of the planned TV shows will be able to buck the trend of bad video game movies, it is hard to deny that a number of interesting properties are currently undergoing the TV development process, and should a new rumor indeed turn out to be true, a Castlevania TV series may soon be hitting TV screens....

After a long development cycle that included multiple delays, the highly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 about a week away from its current December 10 release. Developer CD Projekt Red has been pushing the upcoming game quite a bit on social media, such as releasing a trailer focused on Cyberpunk 2077’s photo mode, but it would apparently like to keep this marketing all to itself before launch in order to avoid spoilers getting out....

CD Projekt RED’s fantasy RPG series, The Witcher, has been hugely successful. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt continues to make bank despite being released all the way back in 2015, while spin-off GWENT: The Witcher Card Game slowly rakes it in too. However, the man behind The Witcher universe argues that the developer should not get to reap all of the rewards from its success. This week, Andrzej Sapkowski, the Polish author who wrote the books which The Witcher games are based on, filed a demand of payment to CD Projekt RED....

Activision has revealed more information about how much space you’ll need to clear in order to install Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – and the numbers are pretty staggering. Most troubling is the file size on Xbox Series S, which clocks in at 136GB, nearly half of the available storage space. Xbox Series S files were expected to be much smaller than their Series X counterparts, due to its lower resolution of 1440p....

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is known for its unique approach to protagonists as far as Assassin’s Creed games go: rather than starring one protagonist, Syndicate stars two. Twins Jacob and Evie Frye are the player characters for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, with screen time and mission divvied up between the two of them. But do the twins have equal screen time? The game is divided up into sequences, and both twins have a progression of quests during each sequence, but if we take a closer look at exactly how many quests each twin has, the results aren’t a 50/50 even split....

Avalanche has explained that the reason it will be launching its open world co-op game Contraband on Xbox Game Pass is mainly to “grow the userbase.” In an interview with gamesindustry.biz, Avalanche Studios CEO Pim Holfve talked a little bit about why his studio decided to launch on Xbox Game Pass rather than have a traditional retail release. According to Holfve, a launch on Game Pass allows a game’s userbase to grow significantly more than if it was to release normally, expanding the userbase being Avalanche’s “key objective....

YouTube streamer Corpse Husband started creating videos in 2015 narrating various horror stories sent in by fans. The streamer has quickly risen to fame this year for his Among Us gaming videos and his music, boasting millions of streams on Spotify. During a recent stream playing Raft with Valkyrae, Sykkuno, and others, fans and fellow streamers pointed out that Corpse did not seem like himself, prompting Valkyrae to check on him and support him getting off stream....

One of the fun elements of Crash Brandicoot 4: It’s About Time is the Flashback Tapes available in many of the story levels throughout the game. These collectibles can only be picked up if the player doesn’t die prior to collecting them. The player must finish the level after collecting it in order to unlock a Flashback Level. These unique levels are set prior to the events of the other mainline games in the series....
