As we near ever closer to the holidays many developers re preparing for a month-long (or even longer) hiatus from their newly-released titles. Some, like 343 Industries, don’t have the luxury of stepping away, as their games continue to struggle, but others can rest easy knowing the hard part (strong sales) is done. Destiny, for example, has done really well in 2014 and is sure to be a hot commodity come gift-giving time....
It’s week 2 for Destiny’s Age of Triumph event, which means that Vault of Glass is live at the new 390 light level. It also means that both the Templar and Atheon challenge are live, offering players the chance at new loot, new ornaments, and elemental primary weapons. While speculation had run rampant regarding what challenges Vault of Glass could offer, the Templar challenge was fairly obvious to predict. As most diehard Destiny fans expected, the key of the Templar challenge is to prevent the boss from teleporting....
With Destiny 2 Beyond Light on the horizon, Bungie announced many activities and other content will be leaving Destiny due to the massive size of the game. Deleted content will be placed in the newly announced Destiny Content Vault also known as the DCV. Instead of launching a sequel, Bungie decided to take this step to create an evolving world and retain the players’ experience and progress from Destiny 2. The DCV will remove early Destiny 2 content and cycle content from Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 after Beyond Light launches....
Even though Destiny 2 players won’t be able to import their previous character into the game world, Bungie is letting fans show off the work they’ve put into this franchise through items called Memorialization Emblems. Essentially, these veteran emblem awards are unlocked for completing specific objectives during the first three years. In its latest news post, Bungie confirms that legacy players can also earn their Memorialization Emblems in Destiny 2, though it won’t be as simple as the process for current generation owners....
Cross-platform character transfers have been a highly requested feature in Destiny 2, going back to the start of the franchise. As many fans may agree, the ability for players to transfer their Guardian from console to PC, from PS4 to Xbox One, or vice versa connects friends and communities in a meaningful way. Why Bungie didn’t follow through with character transfers in Destiny 2 has been a mystery, but new information seems to make clear the root of the problem....

As with all looter shooters, one of the main draws of Destiny 2 is all the rare and valuable loot players can collect, like the Iron Remembrance armor. As part of the new Season of the Worthy, over a dozen classic armor sets have returned to the world drop pool. However, many Destiny 2 players quickly noticed that these old armor sets couldn’t use any of the new seasonal mods, making them fairly useless compared to the newer, exotic armor sets Xur has for sale....
With Destiny 2’s Curse of Osiris DLC having introduced players to the exotic weapon known as Prometheus Lens–a gun that’s generally agreed upon as being too OP–many Guardians are currently staying away from the Crucible until Bungie nerfs the rifle. Of course, those who choose to sit out from PvP activities will have to rely on PvE gameplay to slake their thirst for action, and Bungie has now thankfully revealed the start time for the new expansion’s Eater of Worlds raid lair, which has led to pictures of the event’s armor surfacing online....
Although Bungie had previously revealed that it planned to introduce “weapon sunsetting” into Destiny 2 in the future, it was only this week that players found out how the system will eventually work. In essence, Bungie will limit gear based on the season in which it was introduced, preventing infusion beyond four seasons’ worth of power levels. As one might expect, the weapon sunsetting concept has been met with a lot of feedback from the community....
In addition to announcing a release date and title for Destiny 2’s second expansion, Bungie also updated its development roadmap through the launch of Season 4 in September. Between now and then, there will be three major update releases, starting with Warmind on May 8th, followed by a “summer” update, and then presumably a major expansion release in September. Bungie has been carefully updating its roadmap on a regular basis, making sure that Destiny 2 players know exactly what features are in the works and when they are coming....
It’s natural for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, aka the best-selling fighting game of all time, to finally welcome the blocky poster boy for the best-selling video game ever, Minecraft’s Steve, to its enormous roster of fighters. Both franchises revolutionized gaming in their own way; Masahiro Sakurai’s Smash Bros. invented the platform fighter back 1999; while Minecraft pretty much crafted its own thing when it started to make waves back in 2010....

Owners of Civilization 6’s New Frontier Pass are set to receive a brand new DLC pack, the Ethiopia Pack, at some point later this month. Currently, all that is known about this forthcoming pack is that it will contain one new civilization and leader, one new game mode, one new District, and two new Buildings. However, that is about to change, as Firaxis Games has just confirmed when details about Civ 6’s Ethiopia Pack will be revealed....
Civilization 6 developer Firaxis Games released a quick overview of the Gauls, one of the new civilizations coming to the strategy game, led by Ambiorix. Together with Byzantium, Gaul is part of the third content pack releasing through Civilization 6’s New Frontier Pass. At a retail price of $39.99 USD, the New Frontier Pass is comparable to season passes from other live-service games. The pass includes six content packs set to release every two months until March 2021, and two packs are already available: The Maya & Gran Colombia Pack, and the Ethiopia Pack....

Back in July, the next-generation Halo experience was finally showed off to fans for the first time.
