Released nearly a year apart, Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers and Remedy Entertainment’s Control, though vastly different in terms of presentation, are actually remarkably similar. Both feature an unwitting female protagonist thrust into wild new situations while gaining new superhuman abilities, both seek to allow players to fulfill their Marvel movie-fueled power fantasies, and both launched with some pretty jarring technical issues on consoles. Yet, while a lot of players automatically flocked to the Avengers title to don their best super spandex, Control turned out to be the more engaging and faithfully-delivered superhero simulator....

It took a while for the online modes of Watch Dogs: Legion to get up and running. Despite finally going live on previous and current-gen consoles earlier this month, it has been delayed indefinitely on PC due to a new bug that caused multiplayer games to crash at certain configurations. While PC players will have to wait a bit, Ubisoft has revealed that the game’s online modes will soon support crossplay between various platforms, as well as cross-generational play....

Looks like Saber Interactive’s Crysis Remastered is the latest game to be spoiled by the Microsoft Store, this time in the form of an official release date confirmation, a gameplay trailer, and some screenshots to boot. Oopsie daisy! We already knew Crysis Remastered was going to be a thing, but now we have a much more complete picture of what to expect. This trailer apparently was meant to be made public only tomorrow, July 1st, but here it is in all its glory on a prematurely-published listing on the Microsoft Store....

When Crystal Dynamics first announced their intention to develop a triple-A reboot of the iconic Tomb Raider franchise, reactions were understandably mixed. Gamers had enjoyed the team’s top-down shooter co-op shooter, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light but the digital title didn’t necessarily invite confidence that the studio would be able to produce a blockbuster action-adventure experience on-par with similar titles (Uncharted 3, Assassin’s Creed 3, etc) - not to mention one that also adds backstory for one of gaming’s most enduring icons....

Cyberpunk 2077’s launch was met with mixed reactions from most players. They were usually dependent on what platform they played the game on. However, regardless of how the game played for you, it won’t be inaccurate to claim that the game has a lot of potential going forward, and depending on where CDPR takes it, it could still become one of the best games out there. The world of Cyberpunk 2077 is filled with fascinating characters who have abandoned the traditional restraints of their physical forms in favor of cybernetically enhanced bodies. It’s only natural, then, that many Cyberpunk 2077 players are already wondering how they can respec their own characters and change their physical appearance. That’s why it’s so strange that the answers to those questions aren’t nearly as simple as they probably should be. It is possible to alter some aspects of your character in Cyberpunk 2077 once you’ve committed to certain skills and physical choices, but other alterations are simply impossible at this time....

No one who saw the company’s E3 2018 press conference can say that Microsoft doesn’t know how to close out a show after they debuted a brand new cinematic trailer for the long-awaited CyberPunk 2077. Sporting off the stunning visuals and brilliant atmosphere that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red has become known for, the trailer introduced fans to Night City. But surviving in this cyberpunk world will require players to get their hands dirty....

Dark Souls, developed by FromSoftware, has quickly ascended the ranks as one of the more beloved franchises in gaming and a big part of that is the lore. The game’s narrative is told through environmental story-telling and item descriptions which make it cryptic, but in such a way that leads to players wanting to know more. The four original lords are explained to the player early on, with Gravelord Nito making his presence felt....

Dead Cells is coming to Android mobile on June 3. Mark your calendars. There’s not much we haven’t already said about Dead Cells, the Metroidvania Roguelike that just won’t die. Which is sort of the point: whenever you die, you start again with more knowledge, skill, and aptitude than you did before. Keep grinding away, acquiring more and more resources, and you’ll eventually beat the game. Dead Cells is a phenomenal blend of genres and a unique story with incredible gameplay and a beautiful art style....

The latest Death Stranding trailer gives us a preview of Heartman. Man, this game just keeps getting weirder and weirder. We knew that Death Stranding’s plot would have a lot to do with the connection between life and death, but now we’re finding out that there is an ability to swap sides. Heartman is played by Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn. You might know him from the movies Drive and Only God Forgives, both starring Ryan Gosling....

And it’s over. It took roughly 6.5 hours for a deeply dedicated clan to complete Deep Stone Crypt, the new raid that arrived Saturday in Destiny 2: Beyond Light. And while it’ll be a few days before we get the official result from Bungie, the fact that someone has beaten Deep Stone Crypt means that we all benefit from new content. First, there’s a brand new quest for the Lament Exotic Sword available from Banshee-44 on the Tower....

Unionization has been a hot topic in the games industry for some time now, and things only seem to be heating up as time goes on. It seems that every week more stories emerge about overworked and underpaid employees grinding to make video games, from accusations of a hostile workplace environment at NetherRealm to Epic employees enduring 100-hour work weeks to push out Fortnite updates. Now, Delta Airlines has stirred controversy with an anti-union poster that has been making its rounds on the internet....

The PS5 launched with just a few exclusives. Most who managed to grab the new platform early purchased the remake of FromSoftware’s 2009 classic, Demon’s Souls. The game retains almost every facet of the original, including the brutal difficulty. Fortunately, some aspects of the experience are made significantly smoother, mostly thanks to the ridiculously fast load times from the PS5’s SSD. Those new to the game and genre might need some help getting past some of the harder challenges....

Destiny’s vendors are set to get a lot more active soon, as news comes that the weapons and gear offered by each NPC will rotate on a weekly basis starting with Age of Triumph. It has been a somewhat popular fan request that Destiny’s vendors (like the Crucible Quartermaster and the New Monarchy faction) would have their weapons and armor perks re-rolled on a more regular basis, and finally players are getting their wish....

As the most pre-ordered new IP in video game history, Destiny had a lot riding on its shoulders when it launched a month ago. But despite its sales success many have thrown valid criticism its way. In discussions amongst gamers - and in parodies in the form of entirely new games - Destiny’s punishing loot system has been mocked, becoming somewhat of a running joke in how broken it is. Meanwhile, early patches have been rolled out in an effort to smooth over some rough edges....

This week has been a big one for Destiny players, perhaps the biggest of 2015. Not only did Bungie release the major 1.1.1 update, which finally removed the Destiny heavy ammo bug and made important weapon balance changes, but they also gave players a way to manage inventory without heading to the Tower. So, with excitement for Destiny already much higher than it’s been in quite some time, many turned their attention towards Xur in the hope he might have a great selection....

Xur, the vendor that shows up every Friday in Destiny to stay the weekend and provides players a chance to nab some exotic loot, is getting an addition to his inventory. While in the past Xur’s major selection has been pretty static, with three, class-specific armor pieces and one weapon, it will soon expand to include an exotic weapon bundle. Although Destiny players thought they had a solid idea as to the changes and additions coming with the Age of Triumph live event, the exotic bundle concept was only just revealed this week....
