If video games are going to be taken seriously as a creative medium, then the community needs to welcome developers from varied backgrounds, and with opposing points of view. Sometimes, that means reexamining what really constitutes a game, or putting up with a title that’s ideologically repellent. For the sake of expanding the community, if gamers are going to welcome games like Gone Home into the fold, they’re going to have to put up with things like Hatred as well....

Netflix is known for its binge-watch model in which the streamer releases a bulk of episodes (usually a season or “part”) all at once, allowing the viewer to marathon multiple hours of TV in one sitting. However, not all of Netflix’s content follows this model. It’s been seven years since the latest Burnout title graced televisions around the world, and fans are clearly yearning for more street race-inspired action. Developer Criterion Games took to Twitter today in order to shut down several false rumors being floated around the web regarding the series – making strong statements that it’s focusing on its new title rather than continuing the traditional Burnout series. Today, Criterion Games specifically rejected rumors that it is working on a Burnout HD collection for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, instead clarifying that it’s hard at work on “newer, even better” ideas....

At E3 2018, Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED showed off a brand new trailer for the game, getting fans all over the world excited for the sci-fi RPG. The latest details from this session to go public come from the Cyberpunk 2077 information booklet that CD Projekt RED handed out to those in attendance....

While we had heard that Cyberpunk 2077 ended up recouping most of its development costs based on pre-orders alone, a series of unusually generous refund policy adjustments instituted in response to the game’s technical problems led some to wonder whether or not the game’s 2020 sales figures would reflect all of the bugs, missing features, and increasingly bad word of mouth. There’s going to be a double dose of Cyberpunk coming out next month, as R. Talsorian Games announced that Cyberpunk Red TTRPG is set for release. The system lets players run around in Night City circa 2045, serving as a sort of prequel to the hotly-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077. In a blog post, R. Talsorian lays out everyone you’ll find in the Cyberpunk Red book. The digital version is set to release November 14 for $30....

The mysterious Demon Slayer video game has finally shown itself. Sega just revealed Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles’ first trailer (henceforth to be shortened to just Demon Slayer) along with the game’s release date on all major consoles and PC. Demon Slayer arrives October 15 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Along with the release we get our first good look at what the game will actually entail....

It’s clear that Bungie is treating the upcoming Destiny expansion The Taken King as something of a mini-reboot for the game. Between recasting the Ghost and rebuilding its levelling system, there are plenty of big changes in the works — and we can expect to see that reflected in the Tower, too. Bungie reveals the Gjallarwing, a Sparrow inspired by the design of the exotic rocket launcher Gjallarhorn, which will be available in Destiny: Rise of Iron. In the first of a lineup of live stream reveals for Destiny: Rise of Iron, developer Bungie has revealed the Gjallarwing Sparrow. For those unaware, it is an in-game player vehicle that before this announcement was thought to only be a rumor. When Bungie revealed its fall expansion, Destiny: Rise of Iron, it was leaked that the infamous exotic rocket launcher Gjallarhorn would be making a comeback in Rise of Iron....

Weapons and armor are core to any loot-based video game. The way they change your playstyle or build are reasons Diablo and Destiny are so beloved. With new items comes new balance issues, however. Bungie has struggled to keep players engaged with seasonal releases and aspirational activities. Players have expressed fatigue and disinterest farming for new items, so Bungie has proposed gear sunsetting—making weapons and armor have an infusion cap past a certain point....

With the release of Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion has come a lot of new currencies, collectibles, and quests for players to keep track of. One that is crucial for the endgame and leveling is the Dark Fragment. For those that have yet to get to the Dreaming City in Destiny 2, this won’t make a lot of sense, but know that Dark Fragments are important. This currency is used to purchase items and bounties from Petra Venj, some of which will offer powerful gear on a weekly rotation....

While Destiny 2 started offering pinnacle weapons for completing a seasonal quest in the Crucible, starting with the Redrix’s Claymore and then again last season with Luna’s Howl, the game has added two more pinnacle weapons for other activities in the newest season. One of those pinnacle weapons is Breakneck, an auto rifle with a unique perk that synergizes with the very popular Rampage perk (extra damage after a kill)....

The mysterious “new mode” coming in Destiny 2’s September expansion, Forsaken, that has been hinted at and teased has finally been revealed. It’s called Gambit, and it’s a combination of both PvE and PvP modes into something new for thefranchise. Destiny 2’s new Gambit activity is a 4v4 mode where each team of four is separated in their own arena where PvE enemies spawn. The ultimate goal is to summon a Primeval, basically a boss character and defeat it and thus ending the competition....

To prepare for the raid and Trials releasing this week, Destiny 2 players have been leveling as fast they can since the launch of the game last Tuesday. Through experience and figuring it out together, fans discovered the most effective ways to level in Destiny 2. But today, developer Bungie confirmed those methods with a tweet explaining the best way to push past the first roadblock in leveling, which is level 260....

Developer Bungie and publisher Activision have revealed the three digital bonuses Destiny 2 players will earn when they buy the Digital Deluxe, Limited Edition, or Collector’s Edition of the upcoming sequel. When pricing and retail options were first announced, the publisher confirmed that a special sword, emote, and emblem would be available, but it’s only now that fans can see what they actually look like. GameStop’s product pages for Destiny 2 identify that both the sword and the emote are Legendary items, and the emblem is themed after the Cabal Empire....
