A surprising and intriguing move by a prominent developer in the indie game scene was announced on Thursday. Nathan Vella, the co-founder and ex-president of Capybara Games, announced that they’d departed from the company. Vella’s new role is in partner relationships with the indie publisher Annapurna Interactive. Vella made the announcement on Twitter, confirming that they left Capyapara games six months ago. They’d spent 15 years running their home-grown studio at Capybara, so it’s a bit odd to consider a Capy without him....

CD Projekt Red’s massive RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is just a few months away, and the popular studio has been doing everything it can to build hype for the official release. That hype-building includes Night City Wire events where the developers dive into the many aspects of Cyberpunk 2077, and this month’s event is just around the corner. The next Night City Wire event for the two-time Gamescom Best of Show winner Cyberpunk 2077 will take place on September 18th....

One would be hard-pressed to discuss the greatest JRPGs of all time and not mention the absolute masterpiece that is Chrono Trigger. The fact of the matter is that Chrono Trigger has an established legacy as one of the greatest video games ever made, featuring the contributions of three of the biggest names in entertainment — Akira Toriyama (the creator of Dragon Ball), Hironobu Sakaguchi (the creator of Final Fantasy), and Yuji Horii (the creator of Dragon Quest)....

Following last week’s release of Crash Bandicoot N. What can you say about Cyberpunk 2077? CD Projekt Red’s ambitious sci-fi RPG has been reduced to pretty much a video game bug generator. Multiple delays, game-breaking bugs, removal from the PlayStation Store, performance warnings on the Microsoft Store, plummeting stock prices, and investor lawsuits are the only things talked about instead of V’s adventures in Night City. Just when you think things couldn’t get any worse for CD Projekt, an investigative report by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has now revealed that the game’s E3 2018 showcase which wowed fans and journalists was seemingly fake....

The True Neutral alignment is often overlooked in Dungeons & Dragons. It’s stereotyped as the “boring” alignment and players tend to flock towards alignments with more obvious directions, like Lawful Good or Chaotic Evil. However, there are a lot of interesting ways to play a True Neutral character if you know how to do it. One thing to understand is that True Neutral characters can have goals and ideals. Sure, a True Neutral character could be completely passive both in morality and ideology, but that character likely won’t be very interesting to play....

FromSoftware’s Soulsborne franchise has always prioritized a level of communication in its game design. The original Demon’s Souls and its PS5 remake have intricate multiplayer systems that make summoning and being invaded a momentous occasion in-game. At the same time, there was always something missing from Demon’s Souls multiplayer: focus. Dark Souls’ Covenant system was introduced to give multiplayer a greater purpose while also incentivizing its benefits. Each Covenant in Dark Souls comes with its own rewards to unlock and side effects which typically don’t activate until someone has been summoned or an invasion is underway....

Dauntless developer Phoenix Labs has announced that in-game progression is about to receive its biggest overhaul since the game originally launched. The new system is called The Slayer’s Path, and is due to be introduced with patch 1.5.0 on December 5. Deathloop’s PS5 console exclusivity period ends in September 2022, according to the latest trailer at Sony’s State of Play. One of the focuses of the most recent State of Play was Deathloop, which got a nine-minute trailer detailing its gameplay and going in-depth for the first time. That trailer was then reuploaded to YouTube, where a new splash screen was added to the ending. As reported by Kotaku, this splash screen states that Deathloop is a PlayStation 5 console exclusive, but has an asterisk for the first time....

A good accessory can do all of the heavy lifting in a cooperative game like Deep Rock Galactic. The dwarves toiling away in these deadly mines need a little something to set them apart from each other early on, after all. Luckily, there’s an accessory shop. It’s located near the terminal, which players will use to dispatch themselves on the pulse-pounding missions that make up the beating core of this game’s appeal....

The Prison of Hope level in Demon’s Souls becomes available very early on in the game. All players have to do to unlock it is find and speak to the Monumental after clearing world 1-1. Despite this, it’s recommended that players save this area for later since it’s relatively difficult to complete. Demon’s Souls’ non-linear approach to the story means that some players will wind up here early on inevitably. Surprisingly, the true challenge comes from the level leading up to the boss, as the Fool’s Idol at the end isn’t too challenging....

It’s been almost two years since Destiny was first released, and in just a few weeks, the game is set to receive its biggest expansion to date. Now, Bungie’s Chris Barrett and Scott Taylor have given fans some insight on what to expect when Rise of Iron drops next month....

Xur has returned for Destiny players to spend their Strange Coins and get some new (or better) exotic armor pieces or an exotic weapon. This is also the third week of Xur selling exotic weapon bundles, but we highly recommend that players skip those. Not only are the bundles not worth the Strange Coins, they are actually more expensive than if players bought the items separately. Where is Xur? This weekend, Destiny players can find Xur in The Reef, in his usual hiding spot....

Bungie recently announced Destiny 2’s next major expansion, Beyond Light, which will come later in the fall and see players head to the moon Europa and battle against the pirate-like race known as the Fallen. There are various editions available to pre-order, but one in particular may grab the eye of those who have a particular fondness for figurines and/or statues. It initially wasn’t available, but we can now confirm that it’s up for purchase....

The Dawning was a winter-themed event that debuted in the third year of Destiny 1, and brought with it the return of Sparrow Racing League and the Ice Breaker exotic sniper rifle, plus added Strike Scoring and more. Bungie says that The Dawning will return again for Destiny 2 but with its own set of content and events. During a TwitchCon panel about the seasons of Destiny 2, Bungie’s Ryan Paradis said that many fans asked why they couldn’t have snowball fights in the Tower back when the event was active in Destiny 1....
