Although CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is still almost a year away, the developer has been generous in sharing tons of information as to what players can expect in the upcoming game. A few weeks ago, CD Projekt Red explained how character creation would affect gameplay, and now the studio revealed that it wants players to experience as much freedom as possible in Cyberpunk 2077. The game’s story director, Marcin Blacha, explained that player freedom is not limited to the story alone....

Just recently, the video game publisher and developer Capcom announced the forthcoming addition of a fresh downloadable episode for its survival-horror and beat-em-up hybrid, Dead Rising 4, which turns the title’s protagonist Frank West into a zombie. Cleverly titled “Frank Rising,” the DLC is set to be available for the game on April 4 for both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC platforms. The forthcoming DLC episode centers around an outbreak in the town of Willamette that infects West, which essentially turns Frank into one of the zombies that he’s been up against throughout the series of games that feature the hordes of the walking dead....

Fans of Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima have been feverishly waiting for his upcoming title Death Stranding since its announcement in 2016, especially since it would be his first title following his departure from Konami. Considering the awful reputation Konami had gained at the time for its treatment of the beloved developer (though Kojima himself admits he owes a lot to the company), many were glad to see him gain complete and total freedom to do what he wanted, though now it looks like that level of freedom has led to a slight delay for his mysterious new game....

Deathloop is Arkane Studios’ upcoming shooter set on an island stuck in a perpetual 24-hour time loop as the protagonist, Colt, attempts to take down his eight targets in a single day to break free. The gameplay resembles Dishonored, with Colt able to use traditional weaponry alongside abilities which resemble Corvo and Emily’s magical abilities, likely with a sci-fi explanation. Deathloop’s premise, however, creates some opportunities for Arkane to engineer an experience that resembles Dishonored in its stealth and combat but also encouraging the most enjoyable parts of the game without penalizing them....

Upcoming shooter title Deathloop will remain a PS5 exclusive despite Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda, according to a statement from a spokesperson linked to the latter. Microsoft’s takeover went through this week on the back of the company’s announcement from last September in which it revealed an intention to purchase ZeniMax Media and publisher Bethesda for a whopping $7.5 billion. The European Commission approved the acquisition on Monday, leaving Microsoft a parent company to one of the biggest publishers in the gaming industry....

Character creation has been a mainstay of RPGs for years now, with players loving the chance to create their own hero in a story. Sometimes players choose to create characters that are vastly different than themselves, allowing them to live a sort of fantasy through them, while other players opt to create characters that are very similar to themselves. In these cases, players are able to project themselves onto the protagonist to make it feel like they’re really in the game world....

Bungie reveals when Destiny’s newest Fallen-themed raid will be available for fans to play for the first time, just a few days after the release of Rise of Iron. Most Destiny fans would agree that one of (if not the) most unique activities in Bungie’s sci-fi shared world shooter is the raids. These 6-person cooperative endgame PvE activity requires fireteams to plan, solve, communicate, and overcome some of the toughest encounters Bungie has ever made....

Xur has arrived for Destiny players once again to spend their Strange Coins on a selection that includes exotic armor, an exotic weapon, exotic weapon bundles (which include ornaments), and a few unique consumables. For those that may not be familiar with Xur, he’s kind of like Santa Claus for Destiny, except he shows up every weekend and he charges in-game money for his presents. Where is Xur? This week, players can find Xur in the Tower North, a frequent hiding place for Destiny’s exotic vendor....

Friday has rolled around once more which also signals the return of Xur, Destiny 2’s exotic merchant. As expected, the mysterious vendor has also brought along four year 1 exotics each with randomized rolls that were introduced with Forsaken. While most players likely have these items at this point, the random perks associated with them may help to add a little extra appeal and make them worth picking up once again....

Destiny 2 recently had its newest expansion unveiled. Titled Destiny 2: Beyond Light, this major expansion will bring Guardians to Europa to harness the power of the Darkness. More than that, Bungie also unveiled their plans with the franchise for the next few years. Suffice it to say, there is a lot of ground to cover. With next-generation hardware around the corner, there has never been a better time to try out Destiny 2....

Veteran fans of Destiny will likely be happy to find out that just because the Tower gets destroyed at the start of Destiny 2, that doesn’t mean that factions or their vendors are going away. However, that doesn’t mean they aren’t undergoing some changes for Destiny 2, specifically about their weapon inventories. Right now, anyone who plays Destiny knows that going to any of the vendors in the Tower will present players with a selection of weapons that can be purchased with Legendary Marks....

Destiny 2’s 2.2.1 update will see to it that drop rates for rare items are increased. The announcement, made by Bungie through their weekly blog, tentatively sets an April 9 date for the patch, which will bring “a variety of quality-of-life changes and bug fixes.” However, the update could be delayed if any issues are discovered during development. If everything goes according to plan, though, players will get to enjoy increased drop rates for the Dreaming City Ghost Shell, ship, and Sparrow....

Destiny 2’s in-game puzzles are legendary. Bungie’s cultivated a fanbase incredibly dedicated to the looter shooter franchise, so when new content is released, Destiny 2 players hunt down secrets and puzzles like bloodhounds, piece them together bit by bit, and celebrate completing them as a community. Wish 15, however, is the secret that got away. It’s a now years-old secret that was never solved, and it now looks like Destiny 2 players may forever be denied the chance....
