After a year of predictable behavior from Destiny 2’s exotic merchant Xur, the latest Sandbox Update as breathed new life into the creature. Taking a page out of its predecessor’s playbook, Xur now randomly appears somewhere in one of the many destinations rather than predictably appearing in the Flashpoint location for that week. In addition to kicking off a sort of Easter egg hunt, his fated engram is also undergoing a little change once Forsaken launches....

It’s no major secret that Destiny 2 fans have been waiting for today’s open beta on PlayStation 4 for quite a while, but many Guardians are currently unable to experience all of what the test has to offer, as they are being held up by a Moose error code that continually appears during their playtime. As it so happens, the Moose error code has not been allowing some fans to complete the starting mission, or any activity for that matter, with the game crashing and disconnecting players from the server....

Players have spent countless hours on Destiny 2 ever since it was released last month, thus it isn’t too surprising to hear that many have already hit the game’s power cap of 300. But according to the shooter’s director Luke Smith, the number of people who have hit the level cap is far higher than Bungie expected. In a new interview with EDGE, Smith revealed that “an extremely high percentage” of Destiny 2 players have finished the campaign and managed to hit the 300 level cap, a data point that surprised even the development team, who didn’t expect such a “shocking amount of players” to have accomplished both milestones....

Unfortunately for Bungie, the Destiny 2 news continues to trend in the wrong direction. The studio seems to find itself in hot water with its community each week as new issues come to the surface. The first Faction Rally for season 2 hasn’t gone to plan after fans discovered that many new faction weapons wouldn’t actually be available until the last event at the end of the season. While communication has never been a strong suit for Bungie, the company appears to be trying to improve as game director Christopher Barrett has become very active over Twitter to speak directly with fans regarding many things Destiny 2 related....

Destiny 2’s Beyond Light expansion is drawing closer and closer to release. In fact, at the time of writing, it’s only just over a month away, with pre-loads becoming available the day before release, which is recommended considering the rather hefty download size. Die-hard fans are no doubt already familiar with some of the new content and additions already confirmed for the expansion, such as new armor, a new Stasis element, a dynamic weather system, and new story, with the first game’s Exo Stranger making a return as well....

Ranked play for Destiny 2 has finally been given a launch window. The long-awaited (and long-promised) ranking feature for the PvP side of Bungie’s sci-fi shooter will make its debut this spring alongside the launch of the game’s second Year 1 expansion. In a development update concerning Destiny 2, one of the game’s directors, Christopher Barrett, opened the lines of communication with fans to provide a forecast of what would be coming in the next year for the game....

Even though the highly anticipated Beyond Light expansion for Destiny 2 has been pushed out into November, Bungie continues to slowly reveal new content to players. One of the biggest revelations, besides the Destiny 1 Exo Stranger character coming back, is that the game is getting a new damage type and new subclasses based around the ice powers of stasis. While Bungie hasn’t been shy about showing off the stasis abilities to this point, the Gamescom 2020 trailer finally gave the classes specific names....

As part of their first of three livestreams, Destiny developer Bungie reveals that the April update will raise the light level cap from the current cap of 320 to 335. As promised, Bungie had more to say about their upcoming April update for Destiny in the first of three Twitch streams. The first, titled Things to Do, covered the new activities and missions that will be available with the update, including a revamped version of the Prison of Elders....

Amanita Design, developers behind such excellent games as Machinarium and CHUCHEL, has announced that its next quirky puzzle title will be a game called Creaks. Coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Switch later this month, Creaks will take players on a trip through a mysterious mansion to discover the secret of a species of monsters called the creaks. Much like the studio’s prior work, the story will play out without dialogue and use cute sound effects to convey different emotions....

Modus Games has released a brand new free demo of their upcoming game Cris Tales on the Nintendo Switch eShop. The indie RPG, which was being developed by Dreams Uncorporated and SYCK, now has a live demo on the Nintendo eShop. 15 year old Morgan Geyser, one of the culprits in the infamous Slenderman stabbing that took place on May 31, 2014, has been sentenced to 40 years in a mental institution after being found not guilty by reason of insanity. Geyser, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia a few months after the attack took place, will spend a minimum of three years at the institution. If her mental health has shown enough progress, she will have a chance to be discharged into the community....

This week saw the long-awaited release of Cuphead for Xbox One and PC, and gamers have been quick to lavish the game with praise for its vintage cartoon graphics and challenging levels.
