But before things got hairy for Marvel’s Distinguished Competition, there was plenty of turmoil in a galaxy far, far away. While Star Wars has produced a steady flow of television shows for Disney+, from Obi-Wan Kenobi to Andor, its movie business has taken a back seat. Supposedly upcoming film projects, such as a new trilogy from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson and a new standalone entry from Taika Waititi, have languished in development, with little to show years after they were originally announced....

Bungie launched season 13 of Destiny 2 this week, bringing the Cabal faction back into the forefront after their defeat in the main campaign. This time, the empire is led by Empress Caiatl, daughter of Calus who was involved in prior seasons to various degrees. After alliance talks break down between the Cabal and Vanguard, Caiatl attempts to stock her War Council with champions. However, looking to display their power, players enter a new Battlegrounds activity to fight the Cabal through various patrol zones....

Two seasons ago, Destiny 2 introduced a pinnacle weapon for Crucible called Redrix’s Claymore that became one of the most sought after weapons in the game. And then last season Luna’s Howl (or its stronger brother, Not Forgotten) was introduced and has become a favorite among PvP fans. But while those two pinnacle Crucible weapons fell into popular and sought after archetypes, this season’s weapon is a little different. For Destiny 2 Season 5, Bungie has introduced The Mountaintop grenade launcher as the Crucible pinnacle weapon....

As most of Destiny 2’s planets and strikes plan to get sunset in the fall, many players are scrambling to obtain as many items from previous years as possible. For completionists that want to obtain everything such as titles, this can be a daunting task. While nothing has been confirmed about how game modes will be affected by the Destiny Content Vault, Bungie has confirmed that one mode of Gambit is going to be removed soon....

Another week and another Bungie update revealing even more upcoming news regarding Season 13. Not only is the new trailer coming next Tuesday, but season 13 is also introducing a number of major changes to Destiny 2. In a surprising announcement, Bungie revealed that Destiny 2 is ditching weekly bounties, a staple of the game since it launched back in 2017. In their place will be a new seasonal challenge system, giving players something new to chase every week from the Quest Log and last through 10 weeks instead of expiring in 7 days....

Although the first Clarion Call event was supposed to give Destiny 2 players double XP throughout this weekend, some are reporting the boost is broken. Initially, the double XP was working as advertised but suddenly the increased progression disappeared without any rhyme or reason. It’s not a widespread issue in the Destiny 2 community yet, but there are some players reporting the Clarion Call is not working for them. Some say that the double XP turns off once they complete a Milestone, while others think it is tied to redeeming a Powerful Gear reward....

Since its reveal earlier this year, Bungie has continually promised that Destiny 2: Beyond Light is going to be a new beginning for the popular franchise. Beyond Light is a jumping off point for the next few years of content and Bungie is reworking tons of gameplay elements for a better overall experience going forward. While five locations and their content are going to be removed and placed into the Destiny Content Vault, Bungie could be bringing back an old fan favorite location based on a new leak....

The Destiny games have had a mixed reception, with some payers enjoying its variety and looting mechanics while others have been annoyed at the lack of a traditional narrative-focused mechanics. Nonetheless, the developer, Bungie, has been able to carve out a dedicated audience as it had previously done with the original Halo trilogy. This thriving fan base has now been reflected yet again, this time by a cosplayer doing an incredible homage to the final boss of Broodhold Strike, the Brood Queen....

I’ve never necessarily been one to gravitate towards the cyberpunk genre (in film or gaming), but thanks to the hype that Cyberpunk 2077 has built up over the better part of a year, my interest was bound to pique at some point. Given my limited knowledge of the genre, I kind of just jumped right into the deep end by checking out games within the dystopian futuristic setting, which was easy to do considering everyone is trying to take advantage of the genre’s hype....

The highly anticipated Xbox Games Showcase finally arrived and as expected, Microsoft doubled down on many of its big franchises like Halo: Infinite as well as bringing back the classic Fable series as well. The newly purchased studio Obsidian Entertainment was also a major player in the event, showing off new trailers for its upcoming games like the Elder Scrolls looking Avowed.
