Not since Michael Douglas discovered money doesn’t sleep on Wall Street has an actor reprised the role for which they won the Oscar. But Joaquin Phoenix, Todd Phillips, and Warner Bros. are not waiting nearly so long to revisit the billion-dollar well of Joker, their character study/origin story of Batman’s greatest villain. Rumors of Joker 2 have abounded ever since the original movie stunned the industry three years ago when a vast global audience turned up for a gritty drama… at least when it was based on a popular comic book character....

Police have gotten involved in a case of cheating in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Police charged five Australian players over rigging matches by placing bets on matches that they lost on purpose. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has had a recent surge in popularity, and the potential prize money to be won in matches is high. The five offending players reportedly won as much as $30,000 in the rigged matches. They are all scheduled to appear in Victorian court on September 15th of this year....

Intelligence is a stat that appears in most RPGs and Cyberpunk 2077 is no different. Intelligence has a slightly different meaning in this game. Instead of focusing on magical abilities, intelligence in Cyberpunk focuses on technical hacking. Hacking is a big part of the new RPG. It enables V to work their way into the enemy’s head and mess with their electronics. Each point in this tree will increase a few stats; cyberdeck RAM, quickhack damage, and quickhack duration....

Hanako Arasaka is Saburo Arasaka’s only daughter. She’s the character Goro Takemura turns to in the game in an effort the unveil the truth about Saburo’s death. Compared to the other Arasakas, Hanako has a more reserved demeanor, calm, and almost kind. Despite her reservations towards her family, she is shown to project affection towards them. With all of her emotions, suppressed and showed, Hanako is a fairly interesting character. There are a lot of things about her that are not very visible in the game, and even more that are not revealed in the game itself....

For a place that constantly reminds you how grim the future could be, Night City sure is beautiful with the right hardware. When the weather is good and you’re strolling through the Heywood District, seeing the sun glint off windows and watching the world go by, it’s almost possible to forget this is a nightmare vision of where humankind could end up. Until you notice that all the pedestrians are cybernetically augmented and it all comes flooding back....

Fans of CD Projekt Red know that it makes mature games. The Witcher franchise is filled with exaggerated violence, for example, and it also has sexual content including a certain now-infamous unicorn scene. It seems Cyberpunk 2077 plans to utilize these mature visuals in certain significant ways as well, but CD Projekt Red is also understanding with regards to some players not wanting to see/experience these scenarios. As such, Cyberpunk 2077 is now confirmed to feature a censored mode....

Night City wouldn’t be an accurate representation of futuristic America without a subsect of Second Amendment nut-jobs obsessed with their vision of law and order. For 6th Street, it’s hard to even consider it a “vision.” While the origins of the gang may have stemmed from a perception of weakness from the Night City Police Department, the 6th Street gang members are far from noble vigilantes. Their values and interpretations of “the law” are highly subjective at best, selfish at worst....

If you’ve played the original Mass Effect trilogy, you’ll probably remember having to choose one of three options at the end of the third game: Destroy, Control, or Synthesis. This ending has become extremely controversial in the Mass Effect community, to the extent that even ex-BioWare devs who worked on the game weren’t happy with how it was handled. As you might imagine, this makes the idea of a canonical Mass Effect playthrough pretty complicated....

Cyberpunk 2077, the upcoming sci-fi RPG from CD Projekt RED, is based on the Cyberpunk 2020 pen and paper RPG. While the forthcoming project does share several similarities with its source material such as the player character’s “Cool” stat, fans shouldn’t expect the video game to remain completely faithful to the tabletop game. In a new video documentary about the game’s development, Doug Cockle (the voice of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Geralt) said that Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t just take place 50 years in the future of the pen and paper RPG....

When CD Projekt Red revealed Cyberpunk 2077 seven years ago, many expected the game to be a third-person action RPG, similar to the company’s other titles such as The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. However, CD Projekt Red took a different approach to develop Cyberpunk 2077 and eventually decided on a first-person perspective. With Cyberpunk 2077 now finally out in the wild, the PC modding community has taken it into their hands to bring a third-person mode to the game....

Following up a fantastic series like Avatar: The Last Airbender must have been far from an easy feat. The creators not only needed to satisfy fans of the original but find new and exciting ways to establish the sequel as its own thing. The Legend of Korra lasted for four seasons, with a total of 52 episodes, and aired on Nickelodeon from 2012 to 2014. Set 70 years after its predecessor’s finale, The Legend of Korra introduced audiences to the title character and the next Avatar tasked in-with bringing balance to the world....

The Halloween event has finally arrived for both killers and survivors in Dead by Daylight. For 2020, the event is focused on the game’s newest killer, the Blight, due to the foreshadowing of his existence in previous years’ Halloween events. With this year’s event, there is plenty for Dead by Daylight players of both sides to enjoy. However, there is one new event exclusive add-on available for all killers that can completely change how they play the game....

It looks like more pinnacle weapons are coming to Destiny 2 with the game’s next season, Season of the Drifter. While developer Bungie has stayed pretty quiet about what content is coming in Season 6 and the accompanying Annual Pass add-on Joker’s Wild, according to Bungie’s community manager Cozmo, the developer will reveal more information next week including information about the pinnacle weapons in Season 6. For those unfamiliar, pinnacle weapons in Destiny 2 are Legendary weapons with unique perks that are attached to specific quests and demand commitment to playing certain activities and achieving various levels of mastery in order to obtain....

While Bungie is using the next few weeks to unveil its Curse of Osiris DLC expansion for Destiny 2, there are still a few events left before the game officially shifts into Season 2. On top of that, Xur is still making his regular visits and selling exotics for a reasonable price. This week, players can find Xur on Titan in The Rig zone. Fast travel to The Rig and head past to the Northwest....

Sometimes finding a secret in a game or its beta can be a tough nut to crack, but in the case of this little trick in the Destiny 2 beta, it’s pretty simple. The secret here is that up to three players can get a Fallen Pike to ride during Destiny 2’s The Inverted Spire strike. Truth be told, all players have to do is be patient. The simple “trick” is to load into the strike and stay in the strike’s starting area....

The Destiny franchise has a rich history of very talented fans creating art, props, videos and more based on the game. Many of them have been featured here on Game Rant. Here’s another one worth highlighting: one fan has created some Destiny 2 concept art for Fallen and Cabal themed armor sets, which are totally awesome. The artist, Plain Ben, said this art came from an exercise “photobashing some Destiny Armor concepts out of existing Bungie assets....

Marcin Iwinski, the CEO of CD Projekt Red, explains that he considers the biggest competition and best RPG developers to be Rockstar, Blizzard, and Bethesda. Determining the best RPG developers out there is no easy feat, though perhaps it’s easier when the person assembling the list is the head of a competing RPG development company. Such is the case with the CEO of CD Projekt Red, who has publicly declared what he considers to be the top three RPG developers around today....

Fans of Geralt Rivia shouldn’t be waiting for his next adventure, because it’s never coming. CD Projekt Red’s CEO said in no uncertain terms that The Witcher 4 is not going to happen. While that is certainly disappointing news, fans at least still have Gwent Cyberpunk 2077 to look forward to. At a recent gaming seminar, CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski gave a very long talk. For the gaming portion of his talk, he mostly discussed the studio’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, making only a passing reference to The Witcher 3....
