In the decade or so since Freedom Force’s release, strategy RPG’s have evolved considerably, and some of the more notable titles in the genre since 2002 include Firaxis’ XCOM and this year’s critically-acclaimed sequel XCOM 2 – both of which were designed by Jake Solomon....

Cozy Grove is a game that’s designed to be relaxing, but it takes that mentality way too far, especially if you’re looking for it to be a wholesome distraction from the stresses of modern life. You play as a scout who arrives on a haunted island, but it’s the good kind of haunted. Think Casper the Friendly Ghost rather than The Babadook. It’s been five long years since Xbox fans have seen a new entry in the action-packed Crackdown franchise. Gamers and Alien fans were elated when they found out that Aliens: Colonial Marines would finally get a release date, especially after such a lengthy development time. Gamers not interested in Gearbox’s title may have something else to look forward to, as Total War developer Creative Assembly is also working on an Alien game – and this one is set to hit next-gen consoles. Creative Assembly is looking for a multiplayer/gameplay programmer who’s duties will be to work on “a AAA multi-platform title on current and future generation consoles set in the Alien universe....

Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most highly anticipated games the industry had ever seen, and despite all of its issues at launch, it managed to sell incredibly well for developer CD Projekt Red. As a major Western role-playing game release, fans were expecting Cyberpunk 2077 to have a robust and deep character creator. As if there wasn’t enough to dislike about the game, the character creator managed to be underwhelming....

The problem with making a massive world simulation as you find in Cyberpunk 2077 is that there are always going to be little niche cases where the AI just doesn’t make any sense. For example, here’s a police officer smoking his gun. That’s a totally normal thing for an officer of the law to do, right? Another example was just recently posted to Reddit by user no0bified. Apparently, you can hack the bench press at a local gym causing the user to drop the bar onto his neck, choking him to death....

Following a report that Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a robust amount of adult and violent content, some fans, particularly in Australia, became worried that the game will be banned or heavily censored in their country. As it turns out, the game will not be banned and has already received a rating of R18+, which is classified as “high impact.” The Australian Classification Board is well known for its heavy form of censorship when it comes to graphic content in video games....

If you’re in the mood for a little punishment this weekend, Steam is offering a massive sale on FromSoftware’s Dark Souls until April 20th. The Steam sale puts Dark Souls III at a whopping 83% off, or $9.99 for the base game and $14.99 for the Deluxe Edition. The Deluxe Edition includes the Season Pass, which rolls together the game’s DLC—Ashes of Ariandel and The Ringed City. As it normally costs $85, the Deluxe Edition is easily the best deal for newbies looking to get into Dark Souls....

Bohemia Interactive recently locked and loaded Update 1.09 into the online open-world sandbox survival game DayZ. The update is available on all platforms, and signals the end of our long wait for the return of the .357 Revolver. In addition, a new pistol has been added, along with a new base-building structure, economy updates, terrain texture improvements, and much more. With the update, Bohemia also relayed word that the planned five major updates schedule for 2020 will not be achieved due to the current ongoing COVID-19 pandemic....

The new Death Stranding trailer that aired at The Game Awards 2017 this week was full of impressive, noteworthy moments. One scene that stood out especially was when Norman Reedus’ character finds himself underwater, watching the debris and detritus from the explosion float around him. This scene from the trailer was far more than just another teasing section of Death Stranding’s story and themes. Speaking to famed game developer Mark Cerny at PlayStation Experience, Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima confirmed that this underwater scene will be playable....

Demon’s Souls created the popular souls-like formula which many FromSoftware games would later follow, mainly Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Being the first of its kind, there is some imbalance throughout the adventure, pitting players against enemies and bosses that are way overpowered. Destiny is best known for its superb gunplay and RNG loot, but the franchise has accomplished so much more than that. With only a few weeks left for Destiny 2’s Season of the Hunt, Guardians have been searching for a means of obtaining duplicates of Hawkmoon, an Exotic Hand Cannon that can roll with random perks. Bungie has finally delivered a means of target farming this fan-favorite Exotic. Thanks to the “Bird of Prey” quest from the Crow, Guardians can now complete a unique mission to obtain duplicate Hawkmoons. Known as “Harbinger,” this mission combines the exhilarating aspects of Zero Hour and the “Let Loose Thy Talons” quest....

With the release of the Black Armory DLC for Destiny 2, Bungie confirmed 5 exotic weapons would be joining the game but cleverly kept quiet about how to acquire them. As it turns out, the new Black Armory exotics don’t seem to be part of the regular loot pool, but are actually random drops from specific activities. The Anarchy exotic grenade launcher, for example, is a raid-specific exotic, not unlike the One Thousand Voices or Legend of Acrius....
