Last month, many fans of the racing genre were disappointed to hear that Sony was closing down Evolution Studios, a team well known its high-profile PlayStation exclusives. The high stakes nature of the video game industry makes news like this all too common — but fortunately this story seems to have a happy ending....

While late night host Conan O’Brien may be more well know for stand-up comedy (and his hair) than his thoughts on video games, he’s made major progress in becoming somewhat of a famous games reviewer in recent years - a feat made even more impressive by the fact that he is “contemptuous of the medium” as a whole. As part of his ongoing ‘Clueless Gamer’ segment, O’Brien has already given his thoughts on Hitman: Absolution, and witnessed the horrors of the new Tomb Raider firsthand; but finally, he’s set his sights on the past....

Cyberpunk 2077 may be a game that’s still a working progress, but it does have its shining moments that make the game, at least, worthwhile to play. Dark Souls 3’s nine different covenants allow you to participate in the game’s unique multiplayer and gain access to rare rewards you can’t get anywhere else — from special weapons to magical abilities. Joining a covenant is a must. The Mound-Makers Covenant is one of the newest additions to the series’ many factions, and it is one of, if not the best, PVP (Player Vs. Player) covenants in the game. By becoming a Mound-Maker, your invasion will be prioritized to join other sessions with many players currently playing — giving you the opportunity for maximum multiplayer chaos....

I’m perpetually exhausted by Dark Souls discourse, which is why I rarely write about FromSoftware anymore despite thinking Bloodborne is one of the most outstanding games ever made. In the final episode of Netflix’s YA Christmas romance Dash & Lily, the Jonas Brothers have what (at first) seems to be a straightforward cameo. The ever-earnest Boomer is at their outdoor New Year’s Eve concert at Hudson Yards, so too-cool-for-school Dash has to show up in order to apologize to his best friend. The JoBros play “Like it’s Christmas,” their upbeat holiday song from last year (this year’s tune is a slow jam) while Dash apologizes for being a jerk....

Filipe Duarte, voice actor of lead protagonist Deacon St. John in Days Gone, passed away at the age of 46. According to Sicnotias, the lead voice actor of the PlayStation 4 exclusive died of a heart attack on April 17th. Others associated with Days Gone responded to the unfortunate news. This included designer, Eric Jensen, who wrote that he was “incredibly sad to hear of the passing of Portuguese actor Filipe Duarte” on Twitter, urging others to send “love to his family during this hard time....

In a time before the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there was a world where DC was the dominant name in superhero films, and the two biggest costumed crime fighters were still Batman and Superman. Even now, many fans of superhero movies have likely seen both Michael Keaton’s Batman and Christopher Reeve’s Superman, which are both partially responsible for bringing DC heroes to the silver screen. Despite that, it has been years since either Batman or Superman has had an uncontroversial film, with Zack Snyder’s Justice League being the latest to divide fans, and the DC cinematic universe has been struggling to keep up with Marvel....

Nothing in Destiny 2’s non-raid PvE activities can match the thrill of completing a dungeon solo without dying, which Bungie and the community refer to as a solo flawless run. Completing any of Destiny 2’s three dungeons in this way is the ultimate accomplishment. Destiny 2’s first dungeon, the Shattered Throne, is arguably the easiest of the three when not accounting for bugs or exploits. This dungeon has plenty of encounters that will test a player’s patience and skill against dealing with enemies from nearly every engagement range....

Since their launch in Destiny 2 Year 1, Trials of the Nine and Faction Rally have been points of contention among the community. Luckily, Bungie has heard those concerns and is putting both events on hiatus for Season 4 of Destiny 2, which begins with the launch of the Forsaken expansion. Bungie announced that both events will go on hiatus during its weekly blog post, which is packed with tons of new info about Destiny 2 Year 2....

Destiny has always had the same time (albeit a one hour shift between Daylight Saving Time and Standard Time) for its daily and weekly resets. Destiny 2 followed suit, keeping its reset day and time: Tuesdays at 2 a.m. PDT/1 a.m. PST. But that’s about to change, with developer Bungie announcing that players will see the daily and weekly changeover take effect at a different time of day. The new reset time will be 1700 UTC, effectively pushing reset eight hours later than its current time....

Destiny 2 may be looking to introduce players to new missions, planets, and characters, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be familiar icons peppered throughout the experience. Moreover, if the latest trailer for the game is any indication, Destiny 2 players can expect some of their favorite exotics to carry over into the sequel. This week, Bungie released a new trailer that highlights The Crucible, Destiny 2’s PvP battleground. In it, players can see plenty of Guardians doing battle, while Shaxx shares some of his classic sound bytes....

Just because a quest is a little older, doesn’t mean it isn’t worth doing in Destiny 2, and the Make Bows Not War exotic quest has quite the reward waiting at the end of it. While it may not be on the level of complexity as some of the higher level activities in the game, such as the notoriously cryptic and deadly raids, this quest does pose its own challenges that can stump more than a few players....

Back in November, a massive Capcom leak came forth, presenting four years’ worth of projects from the likes of Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and more. Even though so much data was found from the Capcom leak, more information continues to flow; this time, sales data. According to a Resetera post, sales numbers for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, Dragon’s Dogma, and Onimusha: Warlords (HD), have been found from the ongoing Capcom leak information....

After being leaked last week via the Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee, Konami have now officially confirmed that Castlevania: Requiem, a compilation title containing two of the most popular and well received games in the Castlevania franchise, will be releasing very soon on the PS4. Specifically, Castlevania: Requiem includes Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (originally released in 1993) and its sequel, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997). The first game has players take control of the latest Belmont clan member, Richter, as they set off on a mission to rescue Richter’s girlfriend and other kidnapped maidens from Dracula himself....

It appears Charles Martinet might not voice Mario in Illumination’s animated film. Martinet is a legend among voice actors for bringing one of the world’s most iconic characters to life. He has been voicing Mario since the 90s, giving the character all his iconic sayings, from “Let’s-a-go!” to “Wahoo!” Several other characters in the Mario universe, such as Luigi, Wario, and even Toadsworth, have been voiced by him. In a chat during GalaxyCon Live (via Stardust Blaze), Martinet was asked about his thoughts on the upcoming animated film....

CMON recently announced that Eric Lang would be leaving his executive role to concentrate on his freelance work and activism for the tabletop hobby. Eric Lang is a well known and highly respected figure in the tabletop gaming world. He started his career as a playtester at FASA and has since worked with most, if not all, of the large game studios and publishers. In total Lang has worked on over 500 games!...
