People bought fewer consoles in June, according to a new report by the market research company NPD Group. Sales dropped by 17% compared to June of last year, marking the console market’s first drop since before the COVID-19 crisis began in March. The decline should not come as much of a surprise, considering that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are only months away. The former recently enjoyed much media and fan attention following Sony’s PS5 Showcase, which may have contributed to the decline in sales for current generation consoles....

Crunchyroll Games and Viz Media have partnered to create Grand Alliance, a new “RPG brawler” for mobile devices. The title is published by Gaudium, a company known for free-to-play title Armor Blitz. Viz Media isn’t a common name in the gaming industry – rather, it’s typically involved in anime and manga production. It previously created a well-received Legend of Zelda line of manga, so it’s not entirely new to the world of video games, but this will be the first time the company will produce an “anime-inspired mobile app game....

Crysis Remastered may be set for a late July launch, if a listing on the Microsoft Store in Australia is to be believed. The Crysis Remastered leaked release date comes just before the developer’s gameplay reveal for the open-world FPS, which was originally released for PC in the late 2000s as the follow-up to Crytek’s work on the original Far Cry. Crytek shared that an official gameplay reveal for Crysis Remastered was scheduled for later this week....

Cyberpunk 2077 is going to feature a massive open-world that is bigger than that of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. But, fans of the futuristic RPG want to know that the game will be substance, not just style, and that its setting is actually filled with things to do. So, to get answers, one fan asked Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED directly. One Cyberpunk 2077 fan sent a message to the game’s official Facebook page asking the studio how big it will be compared to The Witcher 3....

In order to promote the official release of Dark Souls 3 in North America and Europe, publisher Bandai Namco releases an intense launch trailer for the game. Now that Dark Souls 3 is officially out around the globe, developers have followed up the infamously difficult game’s Japan launch trailer with a newly edited, and perhaps even more potent video celebrating its worldwide release. Now that it’s finally here, there’s a lot to like about DC Universe, the combination comics service and superhero-centric streaming service from DC Entertainment. The platform itself is attractive, as is the reasonable price point, and it offers a few things that its chief competitors, namely Marvel Unlimited and ComiXology Unlimited simply don’t do. Many tabletop games are being delayed, as well as comic issues, but hope may not be lost. With news of DC and Marvel distributor — Diamond Comics — halting new shipments, DC Comics has announced plans to continue shipping. In a statement to retailers, DC has announced plans to pursue a “multi-distributor model” in absence of Diamond Comics’s support....

Since the Lunar New Year is happening today, many games have begun their celebrations. Dead by Daylight is joining in to give players Howling Grounds, which seems to be a little bit darker party than the rest. Howling Grounds has started in Entity’s World, which has gone through some cosmetic changes to dress up for the Year of the Dog. The new cosmetics in Dead by Daylight are a mystery and will “make [players] more stylish even if [the items] don’t bring [players] good fortune....

Even back when details on the ‘Vault of Glass’ were sparse, it was clear that Bungie intended the Raid to be the first real test for a serious Destiny player — and over the weekend, the studio revealed that almost 500,000 players have already passed that test. Pitched as the ultimate test for players within the base game, the ‘Vault of Glass’ challenges Guardians to assemble a 6-person team to tackle a lengthy mix of high-level combat encounters and some puzzle elements....

Bungie announces the date that the fan favourite Trials of Osiris elimination multiplayer mode will return to Destiny, and it’s sooner than you might think. Most players would agree that Destiny is a much better game today than it was at release, but there are still some that would argue there’s an imbalance between PvE content and PvP activities. Before the end of this month, that equilibrium is set to be addressed by the return of the Trials of Osiris....

It’s the third Black Friday now for Destiny players and most know by now that the exotic weapon and armor vendor Xur is not beholden to America’s consumerist holiday. Xur’s sole focus is on delivering exotics at a set price, and if players don’t like it they can take their business elsewhere....

While many Destiny players had thought that September 15th would be the date that brings many changes to Bungie’s hugely popular game, a recent update from the developer has revealed otherwise. Yes, the 15th does mark the launch of The Taken King expansion, but September 8th will see the release of Update 2.0, and with it Destiny will step into year 2 with a lot of new features and improvements....

Destiny 2 Season of the Worthy is nearing its conclusion, which means that Bungie is preparing to roll out a new roadmap of content for the next few months. It also means that some aspects of the game are going to be retired to make way for the next selection of seasonal content. In its weekly blog post, Bungie revealed which specific Destiny 2 activities and items are going to be retired at the end of the Season of the Worthy on June 9th....

Earlier this month, Destiny fans participated in the last Trials of Osiris Crucible event for the original game, but luckily they won’t have to wait long after Destiny 2’s launch to get back into the swing of things. Bungie has announced that the first Trials event in Destiny 2 will take place on September 15th, kicking off at 10am Pacific time. Unfortunately, specifics beyond the Trials’ start date are unavailable at this time....

Destiny 2 has introduced Season 13, Season of the Chosen, and with it, some major changes to the core experience. One of the big changes Destiny 2 has made with Season of the Chosen is the removal of Weekly Bounties for the Crucible and Vanguard, replaced instead with new Seasonal Challenges. Similarly to other live service games, Seasonal Challenges add new objectives for players to complete each week, netting them some exclusive rewards and bonuses in the process....
