I grew up in an interesting time for U.S. TV animation. The television shows of the early 2000s were my bread and butter, and among the many animated shows I watched during that period, anime was a big part of it. I watched my fair share of Ed, Edd, ‘n’ Eddy, Powerpuff Girls, Courage the Cowardly Dog, SpongeBob SquarePants, and countless other American cartoon shows from that era. But at the same time, I also watched a ton of anime, as that was when Toonami on Cartoon Network was at its prime....

When one thinks about 1988’s Coming to America, a few things stand out: James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair as the King and Queen of Zamunda speaking to their son Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) at a breakfast table with intercom radios; the opulence of Zamunda’s palace, which represented an idealized African nation to 1980s audiences the way Wakanda does today; and of course Murphy and Arsenio Hall’s Semmi fresh off the plane in Queens, New York with no idea what “common” means—or also Murphy and Hall under pounds of makeup as the argumentative old-timers at the nearby barbershop....

It’s hard to remember, but Electronic Arts used to be a publisher focused on providing unique experiences within the industry. The past 10 or so years have seen the company focus almost exclusively on yearly franchises, but it wasn’t too far back that one could grab an EA title and expect something hyper polished and fun. Command & Conquer was one such series and it has made a glorious comeback with the recently released Command & Conquer Remastered Collection....

There’s no doubt that Danny Pudi’s character Abed was a favorite of Community fans everywhere. Despite a lack of social skills explained through an unspoken understanding that the character was on the autism spectrum, Abed’s charm sprung from his ability to relate reality to pop culture narratives that were easier for him to comprehend. However, there was a specific moment in season one that made it clear that his penchant for meta-referencing his fictional existence made him the de facto POV of the show, not just the sidekick to Joel McHale’s character Jeff....

Relic just seems to love giving away Company of Heroes 2. Guy Beahm, better known as the popular live streamer Dr DisRespect, has written a book that will reveal new details about his life and career as a streamer. The book is titled Dr DisRespect: Violence. Speed. Momentum. — a reference to his slogan and aggressive style of play in shooters like Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and others. It’s out on March 30 from Gallery Books. “As one of gaming’s most recognizable and provocative personalities, Dr DisRespect finally reveals what it’s really like being the biggest global streaming sensation and, in his factual opinion, the greatest gamer in history,” reads the book’s official synopsis....

Developer Valve gives its massively popular team-based shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive a graphics update with lighting and shader effects, and more. Fans of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive should find the recent graphical effects update Valve provided to the long-running shooter to be equal parts winsome and useful, as the publisher and developer is at least attempting to make the game look better. Rather than being a total re-haul of the visuals for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, though, Valve has introduced subtle changes to the look of the game by way of new lighting improvements, shader features, Hammer Editor enhancements, and by building fresh modular systems, all of which can be utilized by mapmakers and content creators right now....

Finally, after what felt like forever, a new Crash Bandicoot game is on the way. Not a remake or a spin-off, but a proper sequel to Naughty Dog’s PlayStation 1 trilogy. While this is not the first time a developer has sought to recapture the magic of the original platformers, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time looks like it might be able to revisit the formula that made the franchise so beloved while also modernizing it for the current climate....

Players who picked up Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled earlier this year were met with a robust experience with plenty of secrets and unlockables to collect. Since the game’s launch, fans have already gotten free DLC, and developer Beenox has plenty more post-launch content planned. A mint condition set of first edition Pokémon cards is set to go to auction later this month and is expected to fetch somewhere in the region of $44,000. Covenants in the Dark Souls series are a multiplayer mechanic through which players can get unique items otherwise unavailable in the game. In Dark Souls 2, players have the option to choose from 9 different covenants, each suited for different play styles and builds. For fast assaults, devastating critical attacks, and a plethora of other boons, Thrusting Swords are among the best weapons to consider for Dark Souls 2 players. They are lightweight and don’t use much stamina per attack, meaning that players who haven’t bothered to invest in the Endurance or Vitality stats can still wield these slim and swift swords efficiently. Since the game’s release, Dark Souls III has proved to be a game with plenty of longevity for fans. The newest chapter in Dead by Daylight has moved out of the player test build and is now available for all players to enjoy in the main one. This chapter has been named A Binding of Kin and introduces a new survivor, as well as a brand new deadly killer. Alongside the new survivor and killer are the three perks associated with them. While they are initially exclusive to these characters, they can be taught to other killers and survivors after players invest enough blood points into them in the blood webs, making them teachable....

Destiny fans on PlayStation will be getting a host of new exclusive content when the April Update launches. Check out the details of everything that’s coming. From the very beginning of Destiny, PlayStation has gotten many exclusives from Bungie’s MMO-like shooter. With a little over a week until Destiny releases its second major DLC expansion, Bungie’s fan base is chomping at the bit for new content. House of Wolves, as the DLC is known, will introduce players to several new cooperative experiences, including a combat arena called Prison of Elders, a new Crucible event in Trials of Osiris, and a handful of new story missions. With so much new content coming in, one would think that the old stuff – the missions from the main game and The Dark Below DLC - would be rendered useless....
