Yeah, Sony’s upcoming State of Play is definitely a disappointment even before we see it, but at least we won’t have to wait too long for an actual PS5 announcement. The next State of Play is coming on Thursday at 1 PM, PST. It’ll be a 40-minute show about the latest and greatest in upcoming PS4 and PSVR games, which at this point, nobody really cares about. All eyes are on the PS5, but Sony said that Thursday’s State of Play will have no news on either the upcoming console or its first-party games....

Although Destiny has only been on the market for a little over the year, Bungie’s title has already fostered a fervent and dedicated community. Some like to pore over every inch of the game in the hopes of uncovering secrets and Easter Eggs, while others choose to create new challenges within the set Destiny framework. And nowhere are those challenges more prevalent than in the raids. While some had thought the King’s Fall raid in Destiny: The Taken King was built specifically to combat challenges - a direct response to the endless solo runs in Crota’s End - a select few have already found new ways to circumvent those restrictions....

To say that players have been absolutely loving Destiny 2, developer Bungie’s multiplayer FPS sequel to its 2014 original, would be a gross understatement. And to suggest that they are anything less than overjoyed at the game’s Leviathan Raid would be doing their excitement a serious injustice. In preparation for the impending Prestige Difficulty Leviathan Raid set for release on Tuesday, October 10, a few fans of the game took the time to map out the entire raid, explaining how to move through each of the Raid’s five rooms....

In just under two months, Destiny 2 players will finally be able to go hands-on with the game’s new Forsaken expansion, which promises tons of new content for them to experience. Among that new content is a new race for Destiny 2, The Scorn, which was detailed this week. The Scorn is the new enemy type in Destiny 2: Forsaken and are best described as mutated versions of Fallen. However, unlike Siva Fallen, which were more or less a reskin, The Scorn will force players to rethink their tactics and they have a completely different approach....

d Ruinous Effigy is available today through a new exotic questline called Growth. If you’re efficient, it should only take a couple of hours to complete the quest and claim the new gun. The catalyst, which is also available, should only add another hour or so to the grind. Here’s how the best way to grind out the Growth questline and earn the Ruinous Effigy exotic trace rifle. Step 1- Complete Interference On IO Head to the Prismatic Recaster near The Drifter and pick up the weekly Means To An End quest that you’ve (hopefully) been running each week....

At long last, Destiny 2 entered its tenth season called Season of the Worthy. Players are now working with the AI Warmind Rasputin to defend Earth against a final Cabal attack as they set their massive battleship, the Almighty, hurdling down towards The Last City. As part of the story line, players will need to take part in new activities such as Seraph Tower events to earn new resources to upgrade Rasputin’s defenses and firepower against the threat....

The Halloween season is upon us, and so too is Destiny 2’s annual Festival of the Lost celebration. Most of the spooky elements in the annual event, including the Haunted Forest game mode, have stayed consistent with last year, though one change made to the special mission for this year has proven to be an unintentional nuisance. Players have reported unacceptably low drop rates for the event’s Cipher Decoder items, which can be used to unlock up to five item chests at the end of a Haunted Forest run....

As part of the new Joker’s Wild content update, Destiny 2 players can now complete the quest to retrieve Thorn, the popular exotic hand cannon. Several steps are involved, but one namely involves the player checking out the Spider’s Black Market Good list for an item known as “The Jerky.” However, what may catch players’ eyes is Spider’s stock of older Destiny items, with what appears to be the Gjallarhorn in there as well....

Bungie has finally concluded the beta for the Destiny 2 Guided Games feature. The developer had been testing the new feature, which allows players to join experienced Raid or Strike teams or find additional players for their crew. But now that the feature is available to all, some Destiny 2 players are reporting that the launch has been less than smooth. One major complaint about Destiny 2 Guided Games is that some Guides just aren’t using the feature as intended....

Destiny 2’s Iron Banner PvP mode offers players some sweet loot for taking part. In addition to a variety of weapons, players can also receive some Iron Banner armor that has a Samurai theme, but given how stingy engrams in the can be, exactly how long will it take for players to get the full armor set? One Destiny 2 player has now set out to answer that very question, using the Monte Carlo method (using random sampling to find a numerical answer) to figure out it....

Let’s talk about Destiny 2’s incoming transmog system, or “Armor Synthesis” as Bungie prefers to call it. Revealed in last week’s TWAB, Armor Synthesis promises to allow players to create Universal Ornaments out of any armor in their collections–but only 10 per season (20 next season). There were a couple of other pain points around Armor Synthesis, like a few Year One armors that can’t be made into ornaments as well as what seems to be a needlessly complicated four-step process to completing a single ornament that also adds three new resources to a game that’s only just recently gotten rid of its unnecessary resources, but it’s the artificial hard cap that seems to be catching the most flak....

By now there are plenty of gamers who feel they have seen all Destiny has to offer, both in terms of single player and multiplayer content. They’ve beat the “campaign,” they’ve done the raid, and are uninterested in seeing what The Dark Below DLC expansion has to offer. But, there are still plenty out there who return to Bungie’s hybrid MMO/FPS on a daily basis. Some do it for the love of the game while others feel compelled by the need to procure new loot and upgrade their best weapons and gear....

Electronic Arts announced today that both Casey Hudson (general manager) and Mark Darrah (executive producer for Dragon Age 4) have left BioWare in pursuit of new horizons. While likely not good news for fans of the company or the Dragon Age series, EA was quick to note that Samantha Ryan (senior VP) will continue to oversee the studio while Christian Dailey will now be leading the Dragon Age series. In good news, Matthew Goldman will remain as a creative director on the new Dragon Age sequel, and the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition project will continue to be led by Mike Gamble....

Cyberpunk 2077 released last month on PC and was generally well-received. The console version of Cyberpunk, however, was an unmitigated disaster. Buggy, glitchy, sometimes game-breaking crashes combined with poor performance to make easily the biggest controversy of 2020. It was so bad that Sony actually pulled the game off the PlayStation storefront and CDPR had to personally guarantee refunds. Sometimes, they even handed out refunds to players that got a platinum trophy....

The much anticipated Chapter 9 DLC for Celeste will feature over 100 levels. Celeste released last year to massive critical acclaim. Its Metacritic score is 94, putting it as one of the highest rated games of 2018. A number of factors can be attributed to Celeste’s popularity. The first is that the game is very challenging, but always motivating. Cuphead follows a similar style, where the levels are extremely hard, but you rarely feel like the end is truly unattainable....

Overwatch has started the 2017 Summer Games event, bringing Lucioball back into the arcade and introducing a host of new Summer Games-specific character skins. The event will run from August 8 to August 28, giving Overwatch players 20 days to unlock as many loot boxes as they can in hopes of scoring the new character skins and other seasonal items. Loot boxes during the Summer Games will give players a chance to earn not only the new Summer Games skins, but it will also give them a chance to unlock any of the 2016 Summer Games skins they might have missed....

Halo remains one of gaming’s most popular franchises these days - despite it technically not having any mainline titles published in the last five years - and The Master Chief Collection’s success is solid testament to the games’ legacy. However, with Halo Infinite now delayed at least until Fall 2021, Master Chief fans may still have some hope to get their brand new Halo fix in a different type of media....

With the addition of diplomatic victory in Civilization 6’s expansion pack, Gathering Storm, players are given a new way to win and assert their dominance in the game’s world. There are numerous ways to secure a win in this game, one of them being the “Diplomacy” victory. This way of victory takes a lot more strategy and cunning than the other, more straightforward ways that come with the base game....
