Marvel Studios’ transformation from an entertainment conglomerate to a legal firm that occasionally makes blockbusters is apparently well underway. Following the paradigm-shifting lawsuit filed against Marvel by actress Scarlett Johansson for Black Widow’s release strategy, the Disney subsidiary behind The Avengers and many other superheroes is set to return to court soon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel is filing a series of lawsuits against various Marvel comics figures, including the heirs of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, in a bid to maintain complete ownership over its most popular characters....

Valve’s ineffable Counter-Strike: Global Offensive turned more than a few heads with worry last night. The popular title is one of the most-played games on Steam, boasting a wildly stable professional circuit that has experienced a bit of drift during COVID-19. Yet the amateur competitive play of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has continued its climb in popularity on the PC platform, posting consistent records for most concurrent players throughout the pandemic, while the professional North American region seems to destabilize with each passing week....

A recent retailer posting has seemingly ousted the inclusion of Crash Bandicoot’s arch nemesis Neo Cortex as a playable character in the next entry of Skylanders. While gamers anxiously await the remastered collection of Crash Bandicoot titles, they can be forgiven for forgetting that the beloved platforming mascot is set to make another comeback of sorts in this year’s iteration of Skylanders. Launching with the subtitle of ‘Imaginators’, it was revealed during E3 2016 that the one and only Crash Bandicoot would be joining the game via scannable action figure....

The release of Cadence of Hyrule has suggested that Nintendo might be more open to allowing outside developers to create games based on its first-party franchises, and the creators of Cuphead have made it clear that they want their shot at The Legend of Zelda series. CD Projekt Red has made it clear that it has no plans for a Cyberpunk 2077 beta, after a series of scam emails appeared offering players a chance to try the upcoming sci-fi title ahead of its November launch. The official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account made clear this morning that the recent emails promising beta access to the game were not legitimate. The developer clarified that any official communication would come from the official CDProjektRed....

Cyberpunk 2077 released hotfix 1.04 today, altering flashing lights that posed a risk to people with epilepsy at launch. The lights – which play before entering a braindance – have been modified to “reduce the risk of inducing epileptic symptoms.” CD Projekt Red told players it would address the issue as soon as possible, and it looks like it’s finally fulfilled that promise. The full patch notes for the changes don’t say much, but we’re hoping it’s enough to keep viewers safe....

Bungie gives an extensive breakdown of Archon’s Forge, the new wave-based arena mode fans will be able to jump into once the Rise of Iron expansion launches for Destiny. Destiny’s new Archon’s Forge mode coming in its fall expansion, Rise of Iron, has been previewed a bit in the past, but Bungie has blown the doors off the new arena mode with a detailed walkthrough of the space and an explanation of what players will be doing in the new activity come September 20....

Destiny 2’s fall expansion, Forsaken, is poised to add a lot to the game, from newly reworked weapon slots to a new PvE/PvP hybrid mode, Gambit. While those tend to be the headliners when it comes to Forsaken’s features list, the DLC will also bring back one feature that will be familiar to veteran Destiny players—Daily Heroic Story Missions. Daily Heroic Story Missions were added to Destiny 1 during The Taken King and challenged players to complete one random story mission each day at a higher Light level with additional modifiers....

This year’s holiday event in Destiny 2, the Dawning, has finally kicked off during yesterday’s weekly reset, and this year’s event has a new feature in which players need to bake gifts in order to earn rewards. Luna’s Howl is the second Pinnacle weapon introduced to Destiny 2 during the Forsaken expansion. While Redrix’s Claymore requires Outlaw to be active for its Pinnacle perk to work, Luna’s Howl’s unique perk just requires players to have good aim. Magnificent Howl allows players to 3-tap Guardians consistently as long as they’ve landed two precision hits in quick succession. It’s a powerful weapon that every PvP player should own. Even with weapon sunsetting around the corner, Luna’s Howl will still be one of the best Hand Cannons in Destiny 2 for Power disabled activities like Competitive....

Now that Bungie has confidently revealed its plans for the next year of Destiny 2, with Year 3 featuring the core Shadowkeep expansion followed by three Shadowkeep standalone Seasons, fans are more excited than ever for what’s coming next. Bungie’s described leaning further into Destiny 2’s RPG elements, continuing efforts to create an evolving, ever-changing world, and bringing players together with features like cross-save. Destiny 2 is changing, making the only question more exciting than what’s coming in Year 3, “What’s coming in Year 4?...

Destiny 2 is planning to make some significant changes to some of the game’s most powerful exotic weapons and armor. We already detailed the big nerfs coming to Whisper of the Worm, the extremely powerful and fan-favorite exotic weapon for doing massive damage against bosses. For similar reasons, there are other high-tier and popular exotics that will be getting tuned down once the new season starts. Developer Bungie explained in its weekly blog that the driving reason for many of these nerfs is because of how good these weapons are in Destiny 2’s PvE content....

The official launch of Destiny 2: Beyond Light’s raid is fast approaching, although some players have already found some of the loot that was intended to be specific to the new activity. So, while players prepare for Destiny 2’s Deep Stone Crypt, many can launch into the raid with an added bit of flair to keep themselves focused on exactly what they’re pushing for. Players have begun sharing how this new way to glitch into the raid, with one Destiny 2 player called The Real Khepri giving a detailed tour of the new raid on their YouTube channel as it currently exists in-game, without enemies or much at all to interact with....
