It’s no surprise that the shocking announcement of Facebook acquiring Oculus VR for $2 billion has had the gaming industry feeling a combination of fear, elation, anger and confusion. For something that many outside of the core gaming community would consider to be “niche hardware,” it’s telling of the technology’s potential to see such a large corporation take such an investing notice. As with a large quantity of the reactions online, not every developer saw the announcement in a positive light....

In an exclusive interview with Game Rant, Destiny 2 project lead Mark Noseworthy confirms that reset will still be Tuesday for the sequel. There had been speculation the day may change, with some compelling evidence, but Tuesday will continue to be the day. Since its very beginning the Destiny experience has been about rituals, be it completing daily bounties, clearing checkpoints in the raid, or running Nightfall Strikes. Every Tuesday, players log on, begin their rituals, and before the following Tuesday they had checked every box on the list....

One seriously dedicated Destiny player goes solo to take on Crota, the Son of Oryx, without a controller and beats the Hive prince by only using voice commands. As chosen by Destiny’s Reddit community, Redditor and would-be Guardian GladHeAteHer182 has taken on yet another unique challenge for Bungie’s action-RPG, with him defeating Crota using only his voice. In order to complete the task, specialized commands had to be created prior to the battle, with one example being the phrase “take him down” triggering “hold Y to bring out heavy, RT to slam the exotic sword, hold X to pick up the relic”....

Capcom has finally released the system requirements for the upcoming Resident Evil Village. The game is a direct sequel to the Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, featuring some fan-favorite characters like Ethan Winters and Chris Redfield. On the Japanese version of the Resident Evil Village pre-order page, we can access the minimum and recommended system requirements for the game. One of Cyberpunk 2077’s cool features is the ability to customize one’s character as they see fit. Not only will players have access to a ton of customization features, but they will even have the option to customize the character’s genitals while having the character be any gender (since there is no gender selection in the game). However, as it turns out, players will not be able to customize their character’s voice to fit a certain gender....

On January 14, a 10 year old child attending school in Scotland’s South Ayrshire pulled a knife on the playground. Police were called to the scene, the knife was confiscated, and no one was injured. Now education professionals worry that this incident could just be the start, and part of a “surge of violent behavior” linked to the popular battle royale game Fortnite. Some teachers and education professionals have expressed worry that violent scenes from Fortnite are being reenacted at schools....

The developers of Chorus say they really like working with the Xbox Series X. Chorus was announced at yesterday’s Inside Xbox presentation which primarily focused on the upcoming Xbox Series X and what games it will launch with. Chorus won’t be a launch title or an exclusive Xbox game, but it will arrive soon after the Xbox Series X hits store shelves later this year and it is being made specifically with Microsoft’s new console in mind....

The professional CS:GO player “Destroyer” faces some major criticism from fans and fellow players, after displaying what seemed to be a homophobic phrase on a borrowed skin during a recent tournament. This was all during the CS:GO Perfect World Asia League Summer 2020 on July 10, when Chinese team Invictus Gaming faced off against their competitors, the Mongolians. After a great round against their opposing team, one of Invictus Gaming’s team members– Destroyer –displayed his knife, which had the words “LGBT slayer” written across it....

Cyberpunk 2077 was released and instantly became a warning sign to every other developer and publisher in the industry. The game had an astronomical amount of hype and anticipation behind it and ultimately let down the fans who put their faith in the game. CD Projekt Red was once a consumer-friendly company that won the hearts of millions with The Witcher series. They’re looking to win back people with the next-gen version of Cyberpunk 2077, but it’s hard to deny that the pros and cons of waiting for that version are pretty even across the board....

When Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED released the first gameplay demo, fans got their first look at the game’s weapons systems. Cyberpunk 2077’s return to the PS Store appears to have affected its popularity across the board as physical sales of the game increased by 374% in the UK. After six months in limbo, Sony finally caved and let Cyberpunk 2077 back into the PlayStation store last week. Cyberpunk was delisted from the store back in December 2020 shortly after its launch. CD Projekt Red explained shortly before Cyberpunk returned to the storefront that it needed to achieve certain metrics before that goal could be achieved....

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED confirms that the game will not allow players to attack children or non-player characters (NPCs) who are part of the game’s story. The gameplay videos that CD Projekt RED has released confirm that Cyberpunk 2077 can get quite violent at times, but these are two groups of characters who will be safe from bloodshed. On Reddit, one user shared a screenshot of their direct messages with the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account....

Shadowverse World Grand Prix 2020 is the latest event to fall under the shadow of Covid, as Cygames announces its delay. The 2020 competition was already postponed from last year to June 2021, however, that summer slot is no more. While a replacement date has not been confirmed, Cygames does have a plan going forward. Shadowverse is a digital collectible card game published by the Japanese studio. Its annual Grand Prix event offers $1 million as the top prize, and hosts some of the best Shadowverse players from around the world....

Fresh from its release date announcement, Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel has released an enigmatic trailer that showcases a cold, dangerous new area of the world. After some speculation and some very obvious hints, the first downloadable content for Dark Souls 3 was announced yesterday with little more than a title and a release date. Ashes of Ariandel was a bit of a mystery until an article on Japanese site Hachima (translated by Siliconera) revealed some of the DLC’s contents, which includes new weapons, new spells, and an entirely new PvP map....

One truly inspired Dark Souls 3 fan replaces the pop music featured in From Software’s latest gameplay trailer for the action-RPG with a track from rapper DMX. While the music in the latest gameplay footage for Dark Souls 3 was somewhat appropriate in terms of its actual tone (the trailer featured a somber cover of Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors”), some people thought that developer From Software should have chosen a more fitting track....
