After taking a week off from live events, the Faction Rally is making its last season 2 appearance at the Tower. With Season 3 of Destiny 2 right around the corner in May, this is the final time that players are able to pledge their services to one of the three factions in order to earn unique loot and rewards. What makes this Faction Rally different from the others is that every weapon is now added to the loot pool and this is also the last chance to earn Season 2 ornaments for Faction gear.
With the evolving nature of Destiny 2, Bungie has also detailed plans to revamp Faction Rallies in Season 3 based on player feedback. In order to try and spice the event up, Bungie is looking into ways to use the event to provide unique gameplay experiences instead of simply acting as a reward layer on top of the existing game. Final details have not been revealed, though the studio is looking into ways to not time-gate rewards, add faction lore into the game, as well as build new gameplay layers around armor ornaments and Lost Sector missions.
As well as hunting for Faction Tokens, the weekly reset has also arrived in the world of Destiny 2. As always, this means that players have brand new content to get through over the next seven days such as a new Raid order, a brand new Nightfall strike, a new Flashpoint location, and much more. Here are all of the details for the week of March 20, 2018.
Weekly Nightfall Strike
Nightfall Strike: Savathun’s Song
Nightfall Challenges:
- To earn Unbroken, the fireteam needs to complete the Nightfall with fewer than three deaths. The Best Defense can be completed by shooting down 15 projectiles before defeating Savathun’s Song.
After taking a week on Mercury, a DLC only planet, the Nightfall returns to all Destiny 2 players once more. To the chagrin of many players, Savathun’s Song is the featured Nightfall, a strike that feels like it appears more often than not.
Kicking things off in the Solarium on Titan, players need to work together to defend Ghost as he removes the wards from a nearby door. During that time, the fireteam faces off against waves of enemies. Beyond that, the team then needs to find and destroy numerous void crystals in order to progress while facing the likes of powerful Hive enemies such as Wizards, Ogres, and Knights.
After reaching the end of the combat-heavy strike, players face Savathun’s Song, a giant Shrieker. Unlike most shriekers, this one teleports around the room while reinforcements continually flood the area. During this time, players should focus on the adds to clear them out which in turn creates opportunities to attack the boss. At 50% health, two Ogres enter the battle, and then at 25%, Savathun’s Song gains a light shield. Players will then need to find and destroy a nearby void crystal to drop the shield, finish off the boss and complete the mission.

Once that’s done, players will notice little spade icons appear on the minimap, which gives the general location of where each treasure is hiding out.
Here’s a general description for all five chests:
- The first of five can be found in the Salt Mines, so fast travel into Trostland to get started. Run to the back of the zone through the large door opening and continue following the path into the Salt Mines zone. Continue running through the first four areas of the zone to find the treasure sitting on top of a steel beam after walking through an open door with a chain link fence. The second chest is over the bridge beyond the Outskirts, so fast travel back to Trostland, work your way over to the Outskirts, and head south. Travel over the bridge and through the short tunnel to find the chest resting on a semi-truck teetering over the edge. Chest three is between the Winding Cove and Outskirts. Thankfully, its just a short trip from the Winding Cove fast travel point, so head there and imme3diately turn around to start running on the shoreline. The treasure is sitting in front of a large rock and behind a fallen tree right on the edge of the water. Chests four and five are located off of The Gulch so fast travel there to get started. The first can basically be seen right after loading in from the fast travel point. Turn to the left and look for the glowing blue light off in the distance. The final chest for this week is on the other side of the zone, so jump on a sparrow and follow the roads to the other end heading towards The Sludge. Once the broken road is reached, look for a building on the right-hand cliff. Jump up to it to find the chest nestled in front of one of the buildings.
Leviathan Raid Encounter Order/Weekly Challenge
The weekly reset also impacts the raid each and every week as the Leviathan Raid encounter order has been shuffled. While this not only helps to keep the experience fresh for veteran players, it also helps players new to the experience get used to the Raid while also giving them an opportunity to play each part even if struggling.
