With the recent announcement of the Destiny Content Vault or DCV, players have begun playing older pieces of content to prepare for the upcoming Beyond Light expansion. When this expansion launches, players will no longer be able to access Mercury, Io, Titan, Mars, and the Leviathan.

The Leviathan is the most important location that is retiring, as it houses 4 unique raids, the Tribute Hall that is excellent for testing builds, as well as the Menagerie. For title farmers out there, that means the Shadow title is about to be unobtainable this fall. With how much work is tied to this title, it can take multiple weeks to earn. Here is a guide on how to obtain the Shadow title in Destiny 2 before it gets vaulted this fall.

10 Obtain The Opulence Badge

As with most titles in Destiny 2, Shadow requires players to obtain virtually every item tied to the activity at hand. In this case, players will need to obtain every weapon and armor piece tied to the Menagerie activity.

To make things somewhat tougher, Crown of Sorrow’s armor and weapons are also tied to this badge. Thankfully, Bungie has recently made all soon-to-retire raids farmable since rewards from non-secret chests grant an item every run. The Ghost Shell and Sparrow tied to this badge can be earned passively while completing other Triumphs tied to Shadow.

9 Defeat All Menagerie Final Bosses

Since the Leviathan and its activities will be retired when Beyond Light launches, players will want to make sure that they have killed each boss tied to the Menagerie.

There are 3 major bosses tied to the activity: Hasapiko, Arunak, and Pagouri. Hasapiko is a giant Vex Minotaur similar to the end boss in “The Inverted Spire” strike on Nessus. Arunak is a Hive Ogre that is only vulnerable when damaged by orbs Cursed Thrall drop when slain. Pagouri is a Vex Hydra that summons explosive Harpies to kill unattentive Guardians. Each boss rotates every week on a set schedule, so this will take three weeks total to finish.

8 Flawless Heroic Boss Kills

Since Menagerie has a Heroic variant, there are a few Triumphs attached to it that players must complete. The ones that Shadow requires relate to defeating all 3 major bosses without anyone in a fireteam dying.

Heroic Menagerie has no matchmaking, either. Find a team that wants to complete the final boss flawlessly. From there, make sure one member of the fireteam can heal the party with Healing Rifts, a Well of Radiance Super, or even Lumina.

As for specific tips, Hasapiko’s death wall can’t kill Guardians that are blocking with a sword. Arunak should be damaged from one end of the room while a middle tree Sentinel Titan projects a barrier to help protect the team from ranged attacks. As for Pagouri, it will spawn explosive Hydras that can be mitigated with a Sentinel Titan’s projected barrier using middle tree. Pagouri’s boss arena will also spawn Cyclops’s that can instantly kill players that aren’t at full health, so one or two fireteam members should be dedicated to taking them down.

7 Rolling Deep Triumph

Rolling Deep is by far the easiest Triumph to complete on this entire list. Players need to slot 200 runes into their Chalice of Opulence. These runes must be consumed by finishing a Menagerie run for progress to be made. This will take 67 runs to complete, assuming the player has an upgraded Chalice. Just complete other Triumphs passively and this should finish itself.

6 Complete 16 Weekly Bounties

Yet another easy Triumph, players will need to complete 16 weekly bounties to obtain the Treasure Hunt Triumph. Players can pick up weekly bounties from Benedict 99-40 in the Tower to the left of the Tower Annex spawn position. Benedict normally sells 4 weeklies a week, but players with multiple characters can grab 4 bounties for each character, totaling 12 a week. This should take a little over a week for a player with 3 characters, and it will take 4 weeks for a player that only has one character.

5 Crown Of Sorrow Flawless

Crown of Sorrow is one of Destiny 2’s most recent raids. As with most raids, players must complete this raid without any fireteam member dying to obtain its respectful title.

Compared to most raids, Crown of Sorrow is much easier to complete flawless than most. Make sure the fireteam is keeping track of Witch’s Blessing buffs, particularly during the DPS phase of the final encounter. Besides that, take the platforming section slow and flawless should be attainable after a few tries.

4 Complete Crown Of Sorrow Challenges

Players must be part of a clan to fulfill this next part of the Shadow title. Hawthorne has weekly raid bounties that activate challenges for certain raid encounters. Completing them offers extra loot and Triumph completions.

Three raid challenges must be complete: Limited Blessings, Total Victory, and With Both Hands. There is also a challenge where players must complete the entire raid without any Guardian receiving the Witch’s Curse debuff. Limited Blessings requires players to only have 2 blessed Guardians at a time during the first encounter. Total Victory requires players to kill Gahlran’s Deception in the penultimate encounter after 5 shield breaks. Finally, With Both Hands forces Guardians to rotate who shoots Gahlran’s hands during the final encounter. If the same person damages his hands past one instance, the challenge fails.

3 Going The Distance Triumph

Going the Distance might be one of the most frustrating Triumphs to complete without having a premade fireteam through the likes of LFG websites. In essence, all 6 players must complete “The Gauntlet” by making it to the finish line every single time. If a single player dies during the Gauntlet run, this Triumph fails. Those that wish to cheese it can kill themselves at the finish line and have their body ragdoll on the finish line, granting multiple completions from a single person.

2 Safe Haven Triumph

One of Menagerie’s hardest encounters is “The Mockery.” Players need to keep 3 havens active by dunking balls into them that drop from slain Hive Wizards. It’s a tense activity that requires coordination and good group-clearing to finish without losing a haven.

It turns out that’s exactly what Safe Haven wants players to do. This is easiest to complete with a communicating team. Set players to certain havens and make sure players kill their respective Wizards. Once players dunk enough orbs, a few boss Ogres will spawn that players must slay. Kill them and the Triumph will be given to the entire fireteam. Players don’t have to complete this without dying for this to count; only the havens need to survive to obtain the Triumph.

1 Menagerie Time Trials

As for the rest of Menagerie’s activities, they must be completed with time left on the clock to complete their respective Triumphs. This includes “The Hunted,” “The Riposte,” The Arkborn," and “The Crystals” encounters. Players that work with their team and use Hive Armaments and Hive Barrier mods should be able to complete these Triumphs with ease.
