The latest patch for Destiny 2: Beyond Light is live, and Bungie is acknowledging some of the game’s most recent criticisms with this new update. One of the most notable changes will be reworking the Destiny 2’s new Warlock Shadowbringer subclass, which had been heavily nerfed not long after the current expansion launched with the new Stasis subclasses.
In the full patch notes, Bungie confirms that the latest change to the Shadowbringer’s Penumbral Blast has been rolled back slightly, and the seasonal item Cryptolith Lure has seen adjustments. Additionally, a number of recent bugs and issues that have affected Destiny 2 players on specific platforms have also been addressed, hopefully making raids and nightfalls easier to organize.
A controversial patch in November had previously nerfed the Shadowbringer subclass’s Penumbral Blast, a melee ability that sends a small ball of stasis energy towards a nearby enemy and causes damage at a distance. The original patch drastically reduced the range of the attack with the intention of focusing the utility of the ability, but the backlash from the Destiny 2 community was quick and unanimous. As a result, the Penumbral Blast has been slightly restored with a 37% increase in range, not taking it all the way back to the original stats that the ability had at Beyond Light’s launch, but still a step towards fan requests.
The attention to player feedback with the Warlock rebalance isn’t the only fan response that Bungie focused on with the recent patch, also taking this chance to adjust the Cryptolith Lure. Most notably, the item has been set to charge twice as fast, and now can hold five charges instead of the original three, making acquiring the accompanying lure mods less time consuming. These two new changes are certainly the most impactful in the recent patch, but players will be pleased to know that a number of bugs and issues have also been resolved.

There are still a number of issues that came with the Beyond Light expansion that have yet to be addressed, including glitches that have appeared in the new Deep Stone Crypt raid. However, Destiny 2’s new patch does address two of the more controversial mechanics that have cropped up recently, even if one of them was made through a previous readjustment. Bungie is showing an attention to the feedback given by the player community, and hopefully the following patches will be able to address some of the issues players have found since Beyond Light launched.
Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
