Players who have spent a considerable amount of time within Destiny 2’s Dreaming City destination have likely collected an item in their Pursuits tab called A Small Gift. This item has a very specific purpose within the Dreaming City, which will award Dreaming City gear when used properly.
There isn’t any explanation given in-game within the description for A Small Gift telling players what to do with this item, with the description reading “Smells faintly of mint.” But the key to this pursuit is tied to another of the Dreaming City’s mysteries—the hidden cat statues scattered across the Destiny 2 destination.
It’s possible that some players reading this still have no idea what is going on with these items, considering the fact that unless they have bumped into one these cat statues randomly, there really wouldn’t be any other way of knowing that they even existed. So in that case, this process deserves an explanation.
There are eight cat statues that have been found within the Dreaming City so far, sitting in different, out-of-the-way places. If players come across one of these cat statues with A Small Gift in their inventory, they are able to activate the statue, which in turn drops a Legendary armor or weapon from the Dreaming City and causes the cat statue to disappear. The gear is not a Powerful Drop, so expect the loot to drop well under a player’s current Power Level.
As mentioned, these statues are located all around the Dreaming City, and this video does a good job of showing exactly where they can be found:
Players can hold more than one A Small Gift at a time, and they are found randomly within activities of the Dreaming City, including opening chests, completing bounties, doing public events, and more.
This was one of the early surprises of the Dreaming City that players found, and since then, even more (unrelated) mysteries have been discovered including the way to destroy the large gem-like Corrupted Eggs found within the Dreaming City.
Destiny 2: Forsaken is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
