With the release of Destiny 2: Beyond Light, Guardians across the system have flocked to Europa to learn how to wield Stasis. While the focus of the expansion is mostly on the new Darkness Subclass for each class, there is a shocking amount of hidden details and secrets on Europa’s icy surface.

This planet is filled with a variety of collectibles, lore entries, and unique secrets that grant new Europa weapons and armor. From dancing your way to new guns to unique dialogue with your Ghost, here are ten hidden details most Guardians missed on Europa in Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

10 Enforcer Brigs Give Loot

Similar to most patrol spaces in Destiny 2, Europa has a VIP target that will occasionally wander the world space and cause Guardians trouble. Unlike other planets, this target is a tough Fallen Enforcer Brig instead of a mini-boss version of a standard Fallen unit.

These Brigs are guaranteed to drop a piece of Europa gear when they are slain. This is a great way to obtain random rolls on Europa armor and weapons currently unobtainable from Empire Hunts.

9 Defiled Servitors

This section contains story spoilers.

Isn’t it odd that Servitors are frequently seen when fighting Eramis and her lieutenants? Most would consider these Servitors as ether tanks that keep the Fallen alive, yet Eramis can be seen breaking one during the Beyond Light campaign.

That is likely because the Darkness is so strong that it has replaced Ether entirely for Eramis’ Fallen House. If these units were modified to grant Darkness energy instead of pure Ether, it would explain why most Servitors on Europa have the prefix “Defiled” attached to its name.

8 Ghost Talks In Open World

If you have your NPC volume muted and subtitles disabled, you are missing out on a serious amount of character development for your Ghost. One of Beyond Light’s new additions, your Ghost will speak at random times while on patrols in Europa.

It starts with him questioning the Darkness before he comes to accept Stasis as a tool, going as far as apologizing for stating it should never be used. This type of character development is an excellent addition to the post-campaign grind that players will embark on.

7 Penguin Toy Statues

Just as the Moon had Diato collectibles scattered throughout the patrol space, Europa has unique penguin toys that can be collected to complete a secret triumph. There are nine in total to find, although only two have been found as of writing this. YouTuber Esoterickk has guides on how to obtain all currently known penguin toys which you can find here.

6 Test Of Light And Darkness

The friendly Vex Harpy on Nessus has made its way to Europa. This mysterious ally starts hidden combat challenges named either the Test of Light or the Test of Darkness.

To start these tests, head to the Asterion Abyss on Europa and wait for a blizzard to show up. This will trigger a unique message prompt denoting a group of Vex have responded to the signal. Head to the northern part of the map to find a group of Vex Goblins protecting a Wyvern mini-boss. Killing it will give the Strange Signal buff. Take this to the Nexus at the east section of the Asterion Abyss to meet the friendly Harpy beside either a Darkness shard or tree of Light. Interact with the shard to start a short combat challenge. Completing it will spawn a chest that grants Europa gear.

5 Camp Decorations

Similar to the Tribute Hall in previous years, the Beyond camp on Europa can be decorated with artifacts that players find throughout their adventures. These range from small Darkness artifacts to items scavenged from slain enemies.

As you complete triumphs and missions on Europa, the camp at Beyond will slowly become more cluttered with items. While these decorations seem to offer no benefits, it’s a neat addition that could be hinting at more personalized player hubs in future expansions.

4 Radio Chatter

Outside of the Beyond camp on Europa is a small radio that delivers small snippets of dialogue. Nearly every major NPC in Destiny 2 has a few lines of dialogue that come out of this radio such as the Spider, Zavala, Saint-14, Shaw Han, and even Eramis. If you ever get bored or are waiting on Europa, sit next to the campfire at Beyond and listen to the radio.

3 Optics Highlight Targets Through Blizzards

One neat touch with Europa is its dynamic weather system most players are likely familiar with. These blizzards will occur at random, blowing Sparrows in certain directions while significantly obscuring your vision.

For those that can’t stand the blizzard’s blinding snow, did you know that certain weapon optics highlight targets through the storm? Most red dot sights and high-powered scopes can pierce the storm and highlight targets in red.

2 Smuggler’s Chests

Certain Fallen chests on Europa can only be opened after completing a short puzzle. Named Smuggler’s Chests, these caches can be opened after interacting with three scattered Fallen terminals within a short timeframe.

Interacting with the first one will grant the Data Key (Incomplete) buff. You will need to reach x3 of this buff to unlock the Smuggler’s Chest. These chests are typical open world chests that grant blue-quality gear and a small amount of Glimmer.

1 Secret Emote Puzzle

Europa houses an additional hidden chest that requires much more effort to open than Smuggler’s Chests. Unlike Smuggler’s Chests, these hidden platform chests grant Powerful Europa gear weekly.

To find one of these hidden chests, you will first need to head to the Eventide Ruins on Europa. Whenever a storm picks up, there will usually be a text prompt denoting a special Fallen VIP hiding somewhere. Head to the bottom right warehouse in the zone and kill the hiding target. Defeating this mini-boss will grant the Riis-Reborn Key Codes buff. This buff lasts for an incredibly long duration and persists after death.

Once you have this buff, head to the Riis-Reborn Approach and enter Eramis’ cutscene room with the massive Darkness shard, the same room you obtain Salvation’s Grip from. Right before entering this room, turn around and look for a Scourge of the Past terminal. You should be able to interact with it, consuming your key code and granting the Cadmus Ridge Signal.

Now, head down to Cadmus Ridge and look for a massive Vex structure. There should be a bright white Radiolarian pillar at the base of the structure you can interact with. This will teleport you to a series of platforms where you will need to input emotes (yes, really) on plates to solve the puzzle. The emote you need to use corresponds to the section of the structure. For example, the right-most part of the structure requires your emote slotted to your right D-pad or arrow key. If done correctly, a chest will spawn at the center of the platform that grants a powerful Europa item. This can only be done once per week.
