With Destiny 2 Beyond Light on the horizon, Bungie announced many activities and other content will be leaving Destiny due to the massive size of the game. Deleted content will be placed in the newly announced Destiny Content Vault also known as the DCV.

Instead of launching a sequel, Bungie decided to take this step to create an evolving world and retain the players’ experience and progress from Destiny 2. The DCV will remove early Destiny 2 content and cycle content from Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 after Beyond Light launches. During Bungie’s early preview of the DCV, they announced content that will enter the DCV and content from Destiny 1 that is returning.

10 Vault: Destinations

Planets and moons that players don’t engage with much are going to be removed from the game. Io, Titan, Mercury, and Mars will be leaving and so will the PvE content that belongs there. Lost sectors, quests, adventures, arenas, and special activities will be deleted from the destinations heading to DCV. Although the European Dead Zone and Nessus were first introduced during the Red War, they will remain in the game. In total, the Moon, Tangled Shore, Dreaming City, European Dead Zone, Nessus, Cosmodrome, and Europa will be the playable destinations this Fall.

9 Vault: Raids

Bungie mentioned that only 3 raids will be playable in Destiny 2 Year 4 and that includes the upcoming Deep Stone Crypt raid. All raids from the Leviathan will be taken out of the game which includes the main Leviathan raid, the Spire of Stars and Eater of Worlds raid lairs, and the Crown of Sorrow. The Scourge of the Past raid from the European Dead Zone will also be removed from Destiny 2. The two raids that will be available are Last Wish and Garden of Salvation which is directly related to the Forsaken and Shadowkeep storylines.

8 Returning: Cosmodrome

Before Trostland, the patrol map on Earth was Cosmodrome in Destiny 1. This was the map where the story of Destiny began. Bungie is bringing Cosmodrome back in Beyond Light but it will not be the same scale as in Destiny 1 at first.

When Season 13 begins, Cosmodrome will be about the same as it was in Destiny 1 and it may be slightly redesigned like the revamped Moon. This will offer a nostalgic Destiny experience for Destiny 1 players and a new experience for players who haven’t explored the origins of Destiny.

7 Vault: Story

The Red War, Warmind, and Curse of Osiris campaign missions will no longer be available in Destiny 2. Since the destinations are leaving the game, story missions associated with them will be gone with them. With Europa being added to the list, Destiny 2 no longer needs to hold onto stories from the past. These campaign stories are not necessary for the game moving forward so they will be removed from Nessus and the European Dead Zone as well. The Forsaken and Shadowkeep campaigns will be available.

6 Vault: Menagerie and Escalation Protocol

Escalation Protocol and the Menagerie will exit Destiny 2 this Fall too. The Menagerie is a small raid-like 6 player activity on the Leviathan that features waves of enemies. Escalation Protocol is a public event-like activity with 7 levels where players have to defeated waves of enemies and defeated bosses.

Both activities brought something new to Destiny 2, but they’ll be removed along with their destinations. Activities from other seasons such as forges from Black Armory and Gambit Prime from the Season of the Drifter will still be available. However, Bungie will combine Gambit and Gambit Prime into a single activity in September.

5 Returning: Destiny 1 Strikes

Even though 7 strikes are leaving Destiny 2, Bungie will add 3 strikes from Destiny 1. These strikes are all from the Cosmodrome which has Will of Crota, The Devil’s Lair, and Fallen S.A.B.E.R. The Devil’s Lair was the first strike in Destiny. Guardians needed to defeat the giant Servitor called Sepiks Prime. Destiny 2 players may know of Omnigul from Nightmare hunts, but she is best known as the screaming Wizard from the Will of Crota strike. The Fallen S.A.B.E.R. strike explored the story of Rasputin, Warmind bunkers, and had Guardians fight against a giant, powerful Shank.

4 Vault: Strikes

Bungie will remove the strikes that played their part in Destiny 2 and are no longer needed. There are currently 17 strikes in the game and Bungie will remove 7 of them to make space for new ones. Destinations that will not be active during Year 4 will take strikes with them to the DCV. Tree of Probabilities, A Garden World, The Pyramidion, The Festering Core, Strange Terrain, Will of the Thousands, and Savathun’s Song will be removed from the game. While the strikes on the European Dead Zone and Nessus are older, they will remain in the game.

3 Vault: Triumphs

Lore and other Triumphs associated with their respective destinations will be vaulted. Lore pieces can be found anywhere in Destiny by completing activities like raids, quests, and Nightfall strikes. They can also be found by gathering collectibles, finding scannable items, and speaking to planetary vendors to name a few. With multiple destinations leaving the game, many Lore Triumphs will no longer be needed in the game. Additionally, some of the exiting Triumphs are a part of Triumph Seals which are Wayfarer, Chronicler, Blacksmith, and Shadow.

2 Vault: Exotic Quests

With Io gone, The Whisper mission will no longer be available for Whisper of the Worm Exotic sniper. Similarly, the Ace of Spades quest included a mission on Titan. The Tribute Hall is part of the Leviathan, but that will not be available either for the Bad Juju quest. Even though many Exotic quests will not be playable, the Exotic weapon rewards are not going to be obsolete. Instead, there will be new ways to earn Exotics which associated with the content that is moving to the DCV.

1 Returning: Vault of Glass

Vault of Glass is the first raid introduced to Destiny that took place on Venus, a planet transformed by the Vex. It is still remembered by fans as one the best raids to ever take place in the Destiny universe. This raid will not be made available right when Beyond Light launches, but it is expected to return sometime in Year 4. Bungie has not yet said if the Exotic fusion rifle Vex Mythoclast will be returning with the Vault of Glass.
