One of the best aspects of the Destiny franchise is the secrets Bungie plants in each of the games’ zones and missions. Some of these secrets gave way to some of the most memorable quests in the game such as earning Outbreak Prime in the original Destiny.
Destiny 2 has its fair share of secrets to uncover, even in locations players might not expect. While it doesn’t have anything on par with “The Whisper” mission on Io, the Tangled Shore has a few secret zones and Lost Sectors for players to uncover during and after the Forsaken campaign. Here are all of the Tangled Shore’s Lost Sectors alongside some hidden locations in Destiny 2.
10 Hidden Area: Hall of the Exalted Secret Chest
During “The Mindbender” Adventure, players will eventually enter the Mindbender’s ascendant realm and have to defeat him. Towards the end of this fight, the player will need to make a hasty retreat to a portal before dying to the area’s degen.
Instead of running straight out, look for platforms near the portal and jump on them. On top of the portal is a key. Grab it, then enter the portal. Players will be brought back to the crashed Hive ship in a zone called the Hall of the Exalted. Head directly right and look for a door. Interact with it to unlock a hidden room that contains a unique Emblem named “Secret Treasure.”
9 Lost Sector: Shipyard AWO-43
The Jetsam of Saturn has a unique Lost Sector named Shipyard AWO-43. Surprisingly, this Lost Sector doesn’t take place in the crashed Hive warship at all. Players instead delve under the wreckage and fight a band of Fallen inside. Head through the main path, defeating any Fallen in the path, and avoid any ground damaging effects. The boss is a massive Servitor that makes its allies invincible, but that is nothing a Guardian’s Super or Heavy ammo can’t fix.

8 Hidden Area: High Plains
South of Four-Horn Gulch is one of the Tangled Shore’s largest areas. Named the High Plains, this area is a massive zone that is devoid of action or Lost Sectors. Players enter this area during the “High Plains Blues” story mission early on in Forsaken. What most players don’t know is they can enter this zone whenever they wish by backtracking to the entrance.
7 Lost Sector: The Empty Tank
While not a hidden area by any means, The Empty Tank is one of the most memorable Lost Sectors in Destiny 2. Found just up the stairs from Spider’s Lair, The Empty Tank immediately makes an impression with its first arena.
Players are greeted by a combat encounter that plays various Destiny tracks from a Fallen DJ booth. Fighting through that room will lead players to a hall filled with captive enemies until players reach a boss arena. Arena is the best word for it as these captive enemies are pitted against each other. Kill them, then kill the boss to finish the Lost Sector. Interestingly, there are three monitors in the Lost Sector that produce a unique symbol when destroyed, although this seems to be a leftover asset rather than the start of an elaborate easter egg.
6 Hidden Area: The Boil
West of Sorik’s Cut, directly above the generator where The Rifleman’s nest is, players can find The Boil where they fight the Machinist. This zone is covered in toxic sludge and has a plethora of modified Pikes for players to take on a joy ride. These Pikes are equipped with unique boosters that leave a flame trail.
Whenever the player encounters “The Machinist” Adventure, they can find a hidden Ghost Shell just in Salvage Zone QX, an instanced zone that’s just past The Boil. From the entrance of Salvage Zone QX, run to the building that disables the gate towards the Machinist fight. Just before entering the building, look for a Fallen crane near the corner of the building and jump on top of it. A Ghost Shell should be resting at the top of the structure.
5 Lost Sector: Trapper’s Cave
From Thieves’ Landing, head east towards the elevator that leads to Four-Horn Gulch. From there, head slightly to the left until players see a depression in the ground. On one of the walls will be a Lost Sector.
Inside is a small army of Cabal. Sleeping dogs can be found in the first area, allowing players to either sneak through the area or kill all of them at once. Past that will be the boss in question, a Cabal Centurion that sticks in the air. Defeat him and grab the chest.
4 Hidden Area: Sjursrest
The link between the Tangled Shore and the Dreaming City is Sjursrest, a remote outpost that is accessed towards the end of Forsaken’s campaign.
To reach it, players much head to Four-Horn Gulch and head to the southwest corner of the map. Follow the narrow path north until it leads players into a cave. Inside will be the gate to Sjursrest, although players can’t properly go through it unless the “Nothing Left To Say” story mission is active.
3 Lost Sector: Wolfship Turbine
Directly below the Sorik’s Cut spawn lies the entrance to the Wolfship Turbine Lost Sector. Hive have infested the entire area, resulting in passages that need to be destroyed with gunfire. Players will need to travel up the turbine while destroying Hive gunk along the way. The Ogre miniboss has a wide range of Cursed Thrall and Acolytes to assist it, so be sure to keep distance between all of the enemies.
2 Hidden Area: Diaviks Mine
This is the same location players fight The Trickster boss. It can be found in Sorik’s Cut to the west portion of the zone, just before The Boil.
Cabal forces investigate the entrance of the remote spaceport. Players must fight through a short cave system before they enter the dock, wherein they will need to defeat a large number of Fallen. While the zone has no unique collectibles, the sheer size of this location makes it a fun location to explore when players are waiting for Public Events to spawn.
1 Lost Sector: Kingship Dock
Straight down the dirt path from Thieves’ Landing is an elevator that leads to the Kingship Dock Lost Sector. This area is incredibly small, comprising of one elongated arena with a chest at the end. Defeat various waves of spawning Scorn then drop the final boss to open the chest.
