Pinnacle weapons were some of the most sought-after weapons in Destiny 2 during Year 2. From Breackneck’s rate of fire buff to Luna’s Howl’s low time-to-kill in PvP, Pinnacles found a way to spice up the PvE and PvP sandbox time and time again.
Bungie, unfortunately, retired the concept when Shadowkeep released. The weapons still reigned over the sandbox, however, and are likely the reason gear sunsetting is being introduced in Beyond Light. Luckily, there are a few weapons that mimic or outright surpass fan-favorite Pinnacle weapons that players have been using for the past 2 years. Here are 10 replacement for Pinnacle weapons that players should obtain before Beyond Light launches.
10 Truthteller
The Mountaintop Grenade Launcher is notorious for its high damage and straight flight path, making it a devastating weapon in PvE and PvP alike. While Micro-Missile is exclusive to that weapon, Truthteller is a solid alternative that won’t be sunset next season.
Truthteller is a Void Grenade Launcher that can roll with a wide range of perks suited for either sandbox. PvP players should look out for either Quick Launch or Hard Launch alongside Spike Grenades, Auto-Loading Holster, and Quickdraw. Combine with a Quick Access Sling mod and Truthteller becomes a fantastic weapon to weaken Guardians. For PvE, it can roll with Feeding Frenzy and Multikill Clip to help take down tougher enemies amongst a pack of weaker foes.
9 Hollow Words
Loaded Question is one of the hardest Pinnacle weapons to replace, since no perk acts quite like Reservior Burst. There are weapons that mimic its group-clearing potential, however.
Meet Hollow Words, a Precision Frame Arc Fusion Rifle that can take down groups and tougher foes in equal measure. This weapon can roll with the newly added Killing Wind perk alongside Vorpal Weapon, making it a fantastic weapon for killing Ultras while maintaining good damage at medium distances. Surrounded is also an option for players that want to get up close and personal with enemies. Hollow Words is also fantastic in Crucible when specced for range and stability.
8 Falling Guillotine
While Machine Guns will have their options drastically reduced in Beyond Light, they have fallen to the wayside of Swords with their various buffs and rework during Season of the Worthy.
Those that loved 21% Delirium’s ability to clear out hordes of enemies should consider obtaining a Falling Guillotine Sword. Its heavy attack functions similar to Dark-Drinker’s attack in the original Destiny, disintegrating nearly all enemies in a vortex of death. Tireless Blade and Whirlwind Blade work well together to give it a fantastic ammo economy alongside impressive damage output that Delirium is also known for.
7 Eye Of Sol
Revoker is a hard Sniper Rifle to beat in Crucible due to its Reversal of Fortune perk. That perk will likely never return, but the return of Destiny 1 Trials of Osiris weapons means the Eye of Sol can safely take its place.
Celerity is one of this weapon’s best perks, granting a massive boost to its target acquisition, handling, reload speed, and a noticeable reduction to flinch while the player is the last alive. This can be combined with Snapshot Sights to create one of the snappiest Snipers in the game. Alternatively, it can roll with Opening Shot instead of Celerity to make landing a quick headshot all the easier.
6 IKELOS_SR_V1.0.2
For those who don’t wish to play Trials and want a replacement for their Beloved Sniper Rifle, look no further than the IKELOS_SR_V1.0.2. This weapon breaks nearly every convention associated with Rapid Fire Snipers.
First off, this weapon has an aim assist value that surpasses nearly all Energy Snipers. Better yet, this weapon can use Seraph Rounds that function similarly to pre-nerf Ricochet Rounds—granting flat range to the gun. Combined with Moving Target and Quickdraw, this weapon is one of the snappiest and easiest-to-use Snipers in the game. For those who don’t need Quickdraw, replace it with High-Impact Reserves to make the IKELOS_SR 2-tap Guardians in PvP.
5 Arsenic Bite-4b
Bow fanatics only received the Whispering Slab Bow in Season of Arrivals, making weapon retirement seem grim for Bow variety. However, it seems that Arsenic Bite-4b’s infusion cap has been inexplicably raised to Season of Arrivals standards.
Players will need to farm for this weapon once more, but it is worth it. Capable of Dragonfly and Explosive Head, this weapon makes short work of any target in PvE. Rampage and Archer’s Tempo are also options for players that can consistently land headshots. For PvP, Explosive Head turns Arsenic Bite into a 2-tapping weapon regardless of where its arrows land. Hush might be going away soon, but this weapon more than makes up for that weapon’s absence.
4 IKELOS_SMG_V1.0.2
Many consider Death Adder to be the intended replacement for The Recluse, being part of the same Lightweight Archetype. It is a fantastic replacement for Crucible players thanks to its stability-heavy perk selection, but there is a much better SMG for PvE content that is arguably better than Recluse.
That gun is the IKELOS_SMG_V1.0.2. Capable of rolling with Threat Detector and Surrounded, this gun is a beast at its intended range. Better yet, its ability to generate Warmind Cells allows various Season of the Worthy mods to work alongside it, making this the best PvE SMG in the game. As for PvP, it can roll with Seraph Rounds, Dynamic Sway Reduction, and Tap the Trigger to turn this gun into a laserbeam for console and PC players.
3 Dire Promise
PvP enthusiasts might have noticed more players gravitating towards Dire Promise recently instead of Spare Rations. That is because Dire Promise is effectively the same weapon with better range and a higher infusion cap.
Snapshot Sights and Rangefinder make for a phenomenal mid-range dueling weapon, but it can also roll Swashbuckler instead of Rangefinder to make the weapon comparable with Luna’s Howl or Not Forgotten. There are better options in PvE, but the closest replacement to Spare Rations and Luna’s goes to Dire Promise.
2 Cold Denial
High-Impact Pulse Rifles have received some dramatic buffs in Season of Arrivals. Vigilance Wing and even Redrix’s Broadsword has seen a resurgence in the Crucible playlist.
Cold Denial is a fantastic alternative to those weapons that won’t be sunset in the fall. Its curated Zen Moment and Headseeker roll obtained from the Season Pass is great on its own for PvP, but PvE players can also benefit from a Killing Wind and Swashbuckler roll. This weapon’s fantastic range and recoil pattern make it a must-have for any activity, especially for PvP.
1 The Forward Path
Breakneck’s unique Onslaught perk made for a noticeable ramp-up in damage as a player’s kill count began to rise. It made for a unique experience for a Kinetic Auto Rifle and has thankfully been replicated in the Iron Banner Forward Path Auto Rifle.
PvP players can use Dynamic Sway Reduction and Iron Grip to create a solid competitor to SUROS Regime and Gnawing Hunger, but Feeding Frenzy and Multikill Clip is the real star of the show. Similar to Breakneck becoming deadlier as the player obtained kills, so too does this roll fulfill the same playstyle. Killing three enemies grants a massive reload speed boost and 50% damage buff in PvE. As long as the weapon keeps killing enemies, The Forward Path will excel in the same situations Breakneck does.
