The Demon’s Souls remake turned the world upside down with its trailer during Sony’s Future Of Gaming Event on June 11, 2020. From that point forward the anticipation grew for any information the industry could get regarding the outcome of the remake. As more information trickled through, the meme world started to rear its head towards its new victim.
As time revealed, it was more than an update but a full ground-up rebuild on the skeleton of the first game. Memes became more free advertising for the game. At this point, we are hard-pressed to find too much negativity in the meme world and the gaming industry as a whole against this behemoth PS5 heavy hitter. What else could fans expect? This remake resets the standard.
10 The Differences Are Astounding
Seems like the differences in the treatment of remakes are astounding. Dark souls had tweaks and minor changes. Demon Souls got the full spa treatment. The remake is done right with Demon Souls. Rebuilt from the ground up. The music score remade with full orchestra, voice acting redone, mo-cap redone. A remake that was done right. New generation console worthy with the familiarity of 2 generations old gameplay that started the Souls genre of gaming as we know it today.
9 Absolutely!
Why not mix two great assets in one meme. Peter Parker (Sam Raimi’s Spiderman) when he discovered his superpowers seeing the difference in the world. The stark comparison is not unlike the difference between Demon’s Souls PS3 and the new PS5 version. Extremely noticeable in fact.
This meme reflects two amazing things that made the early to late 2000s in check for pop culture. Spiderman 1,2 and 3 came out early to mid/late 2000s and the original Demon’s Souls released in 2009. Both franchises have been remade, one to relive the amazing adventure from before and one to change the entire experience all around.
8 Lesson Learned
Two awesome franchises blended together to make one amazing meme. Simpsons and Demon’s Souls blended together to make a subtle yet snicker inducing meme. Whoever thought this one up was making pure gold. Plus, it is kind of true. All the Souls games deserve a remake like this. Do it wrong and get a quick cuff in the back of the head.
7 The Favorite Child?
This meme says it all for hardcore souls-like fans. From Software takes care of its favorite child the forgotten one is drawing away. With all the talk and excitement of Demon’s Souls remake, any banter of Bloodborne 2 has gone to the wayside. Taken that the Demon’s Souls remake is a huge deal for fans of the Souls games it is inevitable that alongside the release of the PlayStation 5 and its controversies, there is hype and angst to even be able to play the game. Console release politics seem to get in the way of having all the fun with the new games.
6 How Rude.
The PS5 with its amazingly fast SSD has made an impact on the team that rebuilt the Demon’s Souls game. Data load times are in some cases 100 times faster so when the player inevitably dies, they are right back in the action. No time for load time trash talk.
The enemy is waiting right there to keep the fight going. Quite literally with the lack of certain hardware limitations, there is next to no time to trash talk the demons that sent you to your demise.
5 Possibly The Universal Reaction
This meme is a reality for many fans of the Souls franchise. No doubt the general fanbase and hardcore fanbase were shocked, surprised, excited and knocked back when the news of the Demon’s Souls remake was released. There is so much in the expression that one can’t help but laugh at this meme. Hardcore fans know the feeling for sure.
4 How Many Did This Too?
A remake is done right. When graphics were amazing 11 years ago in some games we were doing the same thing. With high quality, full of love remakes happen, this happens more often than not. The same company that remade Shadow of the Colossus, Uncharted 1-3, and Titanfall for the 360, Blue Point Games, has taken the reigns on Demon’s Souls Remastered as well. Their reputation in the industry is becoming fast known for it’s quality and attention to detail. Changing and updating games in all the right places.
3 Take It All In
Yes, of course. Take it all in. No matter what sour, bitter, tangy memes are thrown at the Demon’s Souls remake, fans will eat them up. Memes have fast become a staple in pop-culture/social media over the last few years. Big releases seem to carry the most weight in the meme battles. Funny, rude, slanderous and downright gross memes alike, we will never fall short of memes and their presence in the gaming industry. Undoubtedly fans will be the same for any other remakes (if done right) from the SoulsBorne genre.
2 Just Like That, Dark Souls 3 Is Dead
Is it a sign? Dark Souls 3 is dead now? Demon’s Souls set the standard way back when it was released. Dark Souls took it to the mainstream when it became accessible everywhere. Dark Souls 2 happened with mixed reviews as it strayed from the formula enough to turn some fans away. Dark Souls 3 came at just the right time to set it all straight again. The DLC added some great elements and more playability as well. Dark Souls remastered came and spread wide globally on other consoles as well but it has now been saturated so Dark Souls 3 remained the go-to for fans waiting for the next Souls release. Now the remake is the killer app for the end of 2020. Time will tell if fans stop playing Dark Souls 3.
1 Never Pause
The difficulty of Demon’s Souls is legendary. One of the most well-known aspects of the game is how impossible it is to pause. Not only can an ill-timed pause ruin a player’s chances of survival, but pausing such an engrossing game is practically sacrilege in itself.
