Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld recently made a bold statement claiming that Marvel has no plans for Deadpool 3. Understandably, he seemed pretty upset about this, and although at the time he didn’t seem to have any proof, he has doubled down on his assertions since then.

Liefeld created Deadpool back in 1991, and in his most recent statement uses this to his advantage. In reference to Marvel, he claims “If you make this movie [or not], I’m getting a fat check.” Liefeld won’t be a producer on Deadpool 3 if it does come out, but will most certainly still get money from royalties.

The writer continues to say that he would prefer that Ryan Reynolds take the reigns and carry Deadpool forward. Liefeld seems to believe that Reynolds has a solid grasp of who the character is and how to best tell his story, and made his faith in him public in his recent statements.

Finally, Liefeld also doubled down on his statement that there are no plans for a sequel, saying “Do I know that there is no movement on a Deadpool 3 right now? Yes.” Of course, this is slightly modified from his original statement, as this time he is saying that there is no movement right now rather than no plans whatsoever.

Deadpool 3 is not yet announced.
