Dead Cells has now soared past 3 million units sold and is celebrating with yet another free update.
Well, here we are. Dead Cells is still a great game, and it’s still getting better with each passing year. Motion Twin has just confirmed that Dead Cells has now surpassed 3 million total sales across all its platforms, which is pretty much anything with a circuit board and a processor these days. Dead Cells recently released on Android last month, and we’re dead certain that might have helped push the game past the 3 million mark.
To celebrate the occasion, Dead Cells is getting its 19th free update. Called “Update of Plenty,” Motion Twin is taking aim at rebalancing Dead Cells, smoothing out the difficulty curve while also reworking weapons in order to improve build diversity.
The biggest change in Update of Plenty is to crossbows, which are getting reworked to all be two-handed, are now Survival only, and also include two separate attacks each. Lots of other items and weapons have been nerfed or buffed, depending on their usage statistics, with the intention of opening up end-game build diversity without harming meta builds.
You’ll have to read the full patch notes for the full list of changes here as they’re too big to list.
Dead Cells’ economy has seen a rework in Update of Plenty, with gold scaling removed entirely in favor of a new scaling system that causes gear prices to increase with item level. This is intended to improve difficulty scaling as well as allow high-level healing items to be a little more obtainable. Shop re-rolling is now free, but all items in the new listing will be a bit more expensive every time the shop is re-rolled. Some prices have also changed, with the full listing again in the patch notes.
Update of Plenty also aims to smooth some of the difficulty spikes from Dead Cells, especially in the early game.
There way more to Update of Plenty, so check out the full details here.
