The roguelike Dead Cells has officially released for the Android, nearly two years after it was first released for various consoles in 2018.
Developed by Motion Twin, Dead Cells was released on various consoles in August 2018 and later ported to IOS August 2019. The company in charge of the iOS port, Playdigious, has just ported it to the Android on June 3, 2020.
According to Pocketgamer, the Android version will have two different touch screen options for players to use, much like the iOS version contains. There’s an Original version which utilizes virtual buttons for players to navigate and move around the world or the Auto-Hit which some consider to be more mobile friendly as the attacks occur automatically while the player moves around.
Though the game has only been out for a short time it has already received favorable reviews on the Google Play Store. The game is selling for $8.99 the same price it goes for on the Apple Store.
Gamasutra has reported that the developers aren’t interested in a sequel any time soon, preferring to port the game to various devices, introduce additional content, and support modding efforts. It’s unclear if any of this will be supported on the mobile version. But for now players can enjoy the dark and grim world on their mobile devices.
