Open-world survival game DayZ - from developer and publisher Bohemia Interactive - has received its latest update, bringing with it plenty of important fixes as well as fun new content for survivors to take full advantage of.

In addition to general gameplay adjustments, bug fixes, and UX improvements, most notably, update 1.08 has added a new hunting rifle known as the “Sporter 22”.

The Sporter 22 utilizes various magazines for its .22 ammunition, while being able to use a mounted scope. Probably most importantly, when it comes to the new hunting rifle, update 1.08 has adjusted the Sway and Hold Breath mechanics, making it easier to shoot from long distances - which is often an incredibly important tactic to utilize in DayZ.

Improvements to the game’s base-building also come along with update 1.08, focusing on “balance-of-destruction of various structures” such as fences and tents, while Canopy Tents, Indoor Fireplaces, and Direct Cooking Slots have been added into the game.

It seems that the update has also brought some issues with the game crashing for console players, but the development team is aware of the problem and looking to get it fixed as soon as they can. Additional changes that update 1.08 brings can be viewed in the changelog.
