With the PC release of Days Gone on both Steam and Epic Games, many players are heading into the punishing post-apocalyptic world of the game on a moddable platform. The PC version also has some enhancements over PS4, so many players may want to come over to PC to see what’s new.

The PC version of the game supports mods, and modders have been creating new features for the game since day one. Currently, most Days Gone mods focus on improving and tweaking different aspects of the game or enabling cheat codes. We can expect larger mods to be released as the modding community spends more time with the game.

10 Wemod

One of the most common questions after the release of Days Gone on PC is if this version has cheat codes or console commands added in the game. While this feature is not available in the base game, one of the earliest Days Gone mods released for introduces cheat codes.

Wemod gives players access to many cheat codes that let them alter the game to their preferences. These cheat codes include upgrades for the character such as god mode or unlimited ammo, changes to crafting like unlocking all crafting recipes, and many more cheats that are listed on the mod’s website.

9 Not A Reshade

Days Gone’s PC version comes with many improvements to the graphics compared to its PS4 version. While many PCs might not support the highest graphics settings of the game without sacrificing performance, many modders have released graphics and performance tweaks that can remedy those problems.

This Days Gone mod, Not A Reshade by Alan Poster, tweaks many of the game’s visuals without implementing a reshade or retexture. This mod includes better reflections, much improved darker and further ambient occlusion, sharper shadows, more distant shadows, better God rays, much better tone mapping, and more tweaks that improves both visuals and performance of the game.

8 2x Engine Speed

Days Gone offers a large open world for players to explore, and while you can access a motorcycle and upgrade it to make exploring this world faster, it might still not be enough. Thankfully, many modders have come up with answers to this problem.

One of the simplest Days Gone mods that makes exploration and travel easier, is the 2X Engine Speed mod by TheNeru. This mod affects all engines and upgrades added to Deacon’s bike so it will go twice as fast.

7 New Game Plus

For players who want to play multiple runs, or returning players from PS4 who want to experience the PC version of the game, having a New Game Plus option will go a long way so they can access every upgrade without going through the grind of collecting and unlocking those upgrades. But unfortunately, the base game doesn’t offer this option

The New Game Plus Save mod adds a save file with all weapons purchased and all bike parts upgraded. It also skips the intro and gets to the part where Deacon gets his first bike from Manny.

6 Massive Hordes

Days Gone throws the player into a post-apocalyptic zombie-infested world. One of the most iconic challenges that you’ll face is zombie hordes that you need to track and destroy. While these fights are challenging as it is, experienced players or those who are playing a New Game Plus might feel that these hordes are not big enough to pose a threat to them.

Thanks to the modding community, these players can increase the horde sizes drastically by using the mod Massive Hordes by Aigmir. This mod will increase the smaller horde number from 50 to up to 200, and the late-game boss hordes can have up to a thousand zombies that will swarm you.

5 Multiple Difficulty Rebalances

Days Gone comes with multiple difficulty settings that alter the experience, but players don’t get any options to tweak the difficulty settings any further. Some might find the reduced player damage in the higher difficulties unrealistic, and some might want a more challenging experience.

There are many mods that tweak the difficulty options of the game, but Multiple Difficulty Rebalances by Bhaeron is one of the mods that give the most option to the player. According to the mod’s description, “This mod comes in various versions and disables the player damage penalty at higher difficulties. It optionally increases the enemy damage multipliers on both Hard and Survival and also optionally changes the amount of picked-up ammunition.”

4 Deacon Pack

One of the most popular mod categories in every game are cosmetics and appearance mods that customize how the game looks by adding clothes, gear, or even Thomas the Tank Engine instead of the villain’s head.

The Deacon Pack mod by Veironn adds seven custom outfits for the main character, with custom colors and biker decals. This mod also offers two add-ons that add custom winter coats for the Crater Lake area and custom clothes for the flashback scenes.

3 The Growler Evolved

While there is no shortage of different guns and weapons in Days Gone, having more options is never a bad thing. So if you wanted to carry the Growler minigun at all times and enjoy the thrill of mowing down hordes of zombies, then there’s a mod just for that.

The Growler Evolved mod by MaVeRicK allows you to store and use this powerful weapon just like any other gun in the game. The mod also comes with a few optional features such as infinite ammo and removed recoil, or adding the gun to shops in the earlier zones in the game.

2 Explosive Gore

Days Gone is graphically impressive, and the combat looks violent and realistic. But some players like their video games as gory as they can get, and modders always try to improve how the game looks.

The Explosive Gore mod by Heilos makes most enemies that you kill explode with gory graphics. The mod works on breakers, newts, humans, reachers, screamers, and swarmers, and there’s an optional file that allows the enemies to lose their limbs before they are killed.

1 HUNK

When it comes to zombies in video games, Resident Evil is a classic. Days Gone has an interesting take on the zombie apocalypse genre, but thanks to modders, we can even have a bit of Resident Evil flavor in our playthroughs.

The HUNK mod by Crazy Potato replaces Deacon’s model with the Umbrella security agent Hunk. The mod works on every occasion except the flashback scenes, but as it is with every mod, we can hope more updates will make this mod as immersive as possible.
