Nothing is safe from dataminers. If there’s even a shred of evidence in a game’s code that new content is coming they’ll be able to find it and post it on the internet for all to see. This is especially the case for PC games, but even Nintendo isn’t safe from their prying, datamining eyes.
This is why we may know a little more about the extra content that could be added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Fans have been wondering about the future of the popular Switch title. If a very recent leak from a Twitter user named Ninji is anything to go by, there’s going to be some pretty significant changes coming to your island soon. Let’s take a look at what’s in this leak:
Museum Makeover
It looks like Blathers may get more room to stretch his wings. The leak shows that there will be at least two extra upgrades for the museum. This will potentially include an option for an art section, so perhaps more creative types will be able to show off their favorite paintings. It’ll be nice to see the museum expanding its exhibits beyond bugs and bones.
Aside from the museum itself, there are details about a museum shop and a museum cafe. Blathers could be looking to branch out into different areas of business. Hopefully, he doesn’t start encroaching on Tom Nook’s territory or else things might get ugly.
Redd’s Secret Beach
Some may remember the shady fox Redd AKA Crazy Redd who sold artwork that was occasionally inauthentic. He hasn’t appeared in Animal Crossing: New Horizons as of yet, but he may be bringing his counterfeit paintings to an unused location on your island.
According to the leak, Redd will have his own ship that will dock at a hidden beach on the northern part of the island. He will still be selling fake art, but we imagine the real art can be given to Blathers to display in his fancy new art section.
Dive! Dive!
Considering the vast quantity of water surrounding your island getaway it’s pretty surprising that we haven’t been able to go diving. Well if its inclusion in this leak means anything, that missing oceanic activity may be making a comeback. Along with diving, you’ll be able to catch new species of fish only available in underwater areas as well as gather varieties of seaweed. There’s also a new section of Critterpedia called Seafood that will have 33 items, so maybe we’ll finally be able to have a clambake.
New Things To Pick
Bushes and vegetables will be added in to give players new plantlife to harvest, eat or sell. For bushes, there will be azalea, hisbiscus, holly, hydrangea, camellia, and osmathus. For vegetables, there will be tomato, wheat, sugar cane, potato, carrot, and pumpkin. You should also be able to grow vegetables as well, bringing Animal Crossing: New Horizons ever closer to being a full-blown farming simulator.
Extra Potential Goodies
As for the rest of the leak, there are some unused shopping interfaces that may have something to do with things like Nook Miles redemption or placing infrastructure. There’s a listing for a 3rd upgrade to Nook’s Cranny although it doesn’t mention what it would take to get that upgrade. There also may be some quality of life updates on the way such as better ways of sharing recipes or items with other villagers or NPCs.
Of course, since this is all based on a datamining leak, some of these features may be nothing more than leftover code. However, we certainly wouldn’t mind if everything on this list came to New Horizons, as more content is never a bad thing in a living, breathing game like this. Hopefully, if this leak turns out to be true, we’ll all get to go diving and grow tomatoes very soon.
