Disney recently announced that it was developing a new Star Wars animated series called Star Wars: The Bad Batch for Disney Plus. Not much is known about the show other than the fact that it will be the spiritual successor to Star Wars: The Clone Wars, taking place sometime soon after Revenge of the Sith.

Still, while fans may not know what to expect from the series, Sam Witwer does. Witwer is the Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels’ voice actor behind Darth Maul, and while playing Thief 2: The Metal Age on his twitch channel, he decided to share with viewers his thoughts on The Bad Batch, and fans will be happy to hear that he had nothing but praise for it.

For starters, Witwer says that the animation of The Bad Batch is definitely on the same level as Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ seventh season, which was one of the season’s main highlights. It was a worry for a while that this same aesthetic quality wouldn’t carry over to future animated Star Wars shows, but Witwer confirms that’s not the case with Bad Batch.

As far as The Bad Batch’s story goes, Witwer has only seen the first few episodes, but according to him, he’s delighted with what he saw. He especially likes how the show handles the time period in which it takes place. He starts to go into detail about what the episodes include but catches himself before doing so.

At this point, it’s unclear whether or not Witwer is a part of The Bad Batch show. He talks about it like someone from the outside looking in instead of as someone attached to it. Either way, his comments about the show are noteworthy, as Witwer is known for not shying away from pointing out things he doesn’t like about Star Wars while still being passionate about it.

Even if Witwer isn’t a part of The Bad Batch’s first season, he’ll certainly be involved sometime later down the line. During the show’s time period, Maul is in control of the Crimson Dawn crime organization, and if Solo: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: Rebels are anything to go by, Maul certainly has some stories that The Bad Batch can tell.

Along with this, Witwer makes statements alluding to Clone Wars actors making a return, which means that Ashoka Tano and Commander Rex may appear sometime in the show. It seems almost certain since it wouldn’t make much sense for The Bad Batch to take place when it does and not explore the lives of these fan-favorite characters.

Star Wars: The Bad Batch launches sometime 2021 for Disney Plus.
