Darkness Rises, one of the best-looking mobile games on the market, is already celebrating its two-year anniversary. To mark the occasion, Nexon has released a celebratory trailer highlighting the game’s achievements.

Since its release, 23 million players have jumped into the world of Darkness Rises and over 35 million characters have been created. There are currently six classes for players to choose from, but the vast majority of users play as Warriors, while Witches seem to be the least popular — when the two are compared, Witches aren’t even half as prevalent in the population.

All these players have engaged in over 2.4 million Guild Wars and slain over 9 million Raid Bosses. Those are impressive stats for a mobile game and shows that Darkness Rises has plenty to offer fans of both PvP and PvE action. It has continued to receive regular updates over the years and, while it’s not as popular as it was in 2018, it’s still a great addition to the mobile gaming marketplace.

The last major update for Darkness Rises came on June 2, which added new costumes, the Weekly Pass feature, and updated the Four Guardians content. There’s a lot of competition in this genre, and Nexon is doing everything it can to keep the game on the mind of players and please its long-time fans.

Not much is known about the next update, but it is set to coincide with the game’s two-year anniversary and will include “a new character, as well as tons of new content.” We aren’t sure if this “new character” will be playable or not, but we can expect to learn more in the coming days.

In the meantime, now is the perfect opportunity to jump into Darkness Rises. The game’s not without its flaws, but for a free mobile game it boasts impressive production value and is among the best-looking games you can play on your phone. Long grinds for gear might make it tempting to drop real cash on microtransactions, but it never feels unfair and is — for the most part — completely playable without dropping a dime.

Darkness Rises is available for free on iOS and Android. Its next update will go live on July 2 and will include plenty of new content alongside a brand-new character.
