When the developers of turn-based RPG Darkest Dungeon tweet an announcement about a DLC on April Fools’, anybody could be forgiven for assuming it’s a joke. However, Red Hook Studios clarified April 2nd that despite the questionable timing of their announcement, a Darkest Dungeon multiplayer DLC is very much in the works.

The DLC, The Butcher’s Circus, is slated for a May release on Steam. And best of all? It’s free. The titular Circus will be added as a location in the Hamlet. There, players can show off their vicious strategies in ranked PVP gameplay by pitting teams of four heroes against each other. The teams won’t be made up of Campaign heroes, so if you’re worried about losing a character you’ve become attached to, don’t be!

Rewards from the Circus include accessories and trinkets for players to strategize around, as well as cosmetic drops that players can use to customize their own duelist heraldry. The DLC will also include new lines from the Narrator and a musical theme composed by Stuart Chatwood.

Although The Butcher’s Circus is already available to add on players’ Steam wishlist, there’s been no news as to whether it will be released on other platforms. Fans wanting more Darkest Dungeon content are in luck though: co-creator Chris Bourassa confirmed that as of April 2nd, the studio is still hard at work producing Darkest Dungeon’s sequel!
