The first trial of Danganronpa V3 is one of the most infamous and Killing Harmony is also one of the most divisive titles in the series. Once you beat this trial, you may start to find out why. Story aside though, many fans love the new and updated mechanics when it comes to the trials.
Time to find out more about the new trial mechanics as you solve the mysterious murder of Rantaro Amami.
Rantaro Trial Mechanics
Non-Stop Debate: Like previous games, look for highlighted statements and shoot at one with conflicting evidence with the correct Truth Bullet. An added twist in V3 is now you can turn Truth Bullets to lies instead to get the debate moving on. Sometimes lying is required, or you can solve a non-stop debate either by lying or telling the truth. Also, you will need to get rid of white noise to access certain statements. Just shoot at them to make them go away.
Multiple Choice: Simply pick the correct answer out of a set of choices to a question.
Mass Panic Debate: In this new minigame, students will be shouting over each other. It is the same as non-stop debate, but more chaotic and difficult.
Spot Selection: This one should be familiar to Danganronpa 2 players. Click on a spot in a picture to answer a “where” question.
Pick a Truth Bullet: Like previous games, select a Truth Bullet to answer a question.
Rebuttal Showdown: Like in Danganronpa 2, cut away at the opponent’s statements with a sword and look for a contradiction. Once one is found, hit it with a Truth Bullet called a Truth Sword.
Debate Scrum: All students will split into two groups with different opinions and argue. Look for the subject matter of the opponent’s remarks and match them to people’s remarks on your side of the argument.
Identify a Person: Pick out of the characters in the room as an answer to a “who” question.
Hangman’s Gambit: Spell out the answer to a question.
Argument Armament: A one-on-one debate with a character wearing armor that needs to be broken down in an argument. This is a rhythm game, so shoot down their arguments to the beat of the music.
Closing Argument: Like all Danganronpa games, the case will be summarized by placing comic panels in the right order of events. Leave any fake panels alone.

Hangman’s Gambit
Spell out Vent.
This one has two options.
Ryoma will say “it’s not like it started rollin’ on its own.” Hit that statement with Stacked Books. Or you can lie, and hit Kaede’s statement, “Don’t lose sight of the truth” by changing the classroom vent to a lie and make it a blocked vent.
Miu Imura had a detailed floor plan. Kaede rolled the shot while leaving the classroom.
Kaito will say “The library should’ve been quiet.” Hit that statement with the Promotional BGM Video.
Kaede hid it in a backpack.
Argument Armament
Defeat Kaede in a rhythm game. In the end, spell out Kill the Mastermind.
Closing Argument
Time to make a comic detailing the events of what killed Rantaro in order.
It starts out with when Monokuma gave a time limit for the additional motive to kill. Unbeknownst to him, Shuichi teamed up with the killer to find the mastermind. Together, they set up hidden camera in the library. They also examined a hidden door with signs of use, and suspected that it was used by the mastermind. They got Miu to modify some cameras, but they needed materials and went to the warehouse to find them. That is where the killer found their weapon, a shot put ball. They put it in their backpack along with the equipment.
On the day of the murder, the killer opened the vent while setting up the rest of the cameras with Shuichi. They moved the books to set a path for the murder weapon. Shuichi set up the cameras and didn’t notice the killer used duct tape to keep the flash on. After that, the two of them waited in the first classroom. They say Kaito, Rantaro, and five others walk down to the basement.
With one hour left on Monokuma’s time limit, the security sensor went off. Shuichi investigated, thinking it was the mastermind. After he left, the killer took the shot put ball out of their backpack, and placed it to roll through the vents. It was Rantaro who set off the sensor, having moved the bookcase. Then the camera flash went off, and he went to investigate. This made him stand exactly where the killer wanted him.
Rantaro did not hear the ball coming because of the promotional video. It fell on him, killing him instantly. Then everyone discovered him in the library. The killer realized that he was not the mastermind, and their attempt to save everyone failed.
And that killer was… Keade Akamatsu.
