The fourth trial of Danganronpa V3 is unique due to the involvement of virtual reality. The rules of VR versus the real world are a little different, making the case more of a challenge to solve than usual. Once you’ve finished this trial, there will be only two left with plenty of twists ahead.

In this trial, you need to solve the murder of the Ultimate Ultimate Inventor, Miu Iruma.

Miu Trial Mechanics

Non-Stop Debate: Hit a highlighted statement that corresponds to a Truth Bullet to move the trial along. Shoot away white noise as well. Sometimes you can turn Truth Bullets into lies and move forward that way instead. Sometimes lying is necessary, sometimes it is optional.

Pick a Truth Bullet: Select evidence that answers a certain question.

Rebuttal Showdown: Fight a character by slicing their highlighted statements. Find a statement to contradict with a Truth Sword and slice that with the correct contradicting evidence.

Multiple Choice: Select the correct answer out of a selection of possibilities.

Psyche Taxi: Drive while collecting words to form a question. Once the question is formed, drive to the women holding the correct answers.

Mind Mine: Clear out the blocks by matching their colors to unveil images. Select the image that answers a given question.

Hangman’s Gambit: Spell out the answer to a given question.

Spot Selection: Click on a certain spot in a photograph as an answer to a “where” question.

Identify a Person: Select someone in the room as an answer to a “who” question.

Debate Scrum: The characters will split into teams and argue. Pay close attention to the words and match opponent topics with relevant topics on your side.

Mass Panic Debate: This is the same as non-stop debate, but many characters are speaking at once.

Argument Armament: Shoot down statements to the rhythm of the music. Finalize the minigame by spelling out a contradicting statement as a reply to your opponent’s argument.

Spot Selection: Select a location in a picture as an answer to a “where” question.

Closing Argument: Make a comic re-telling the events that lead to the murder. Make sure the right panels are in the right order of events.

Miu Trial Walkthrough

Non-Stop Debate

Right at the start, you can choose between two options.

  • When Kokichi says, “That’s when you poisoned her, right Kaito?” you can hit that statement with the Small Bottle of Poison. Or you can change the Small Bottle of Poison to a lie, making it Small Antidote Bottle, and hit Kokichi’s statement.

Pick a Truth Bullet

Miu’s cause of death is the Killing Game Simulator.

Maki will say “I think strangulation is more likely.” Hit that statement with Miu’s Corpse.

Miu was strangled with Toilet Paper.

Rebuttal Showdown

Slice away at Gonta’s statement and when he says, “Would tear too easy,” hit that with the Truth Sword, Killing Game Simulator.

Multiple Choice

The person who brought the hammer was Miu Iruma.

Kokichi will say “Or, she secretly met up with someone …” Hit that statement with Miu and Kokichi’s Meeting.

Miu asked to meet up to Kill Kokichi.

Psyche Taxi

  • Miu Iruma tried to kill Kokichi. She tried to kill him in the Virtual World. The bottle of poison was meant to divert attention.

Kaito will say “then Miu couldn’t have placed the poison.” Hit that statement with Login/Logout Record.

Miu made Kaito log out with the Cell Phone.

  • Himiko will say “No, Miu should have been at the chapel.” Hit that statement with Tsumugi’s Account. Keebo will say “A hidden route only Miu could use to get across.” Shoot that statement with Wall Added by Miu.

Slice at Kaito’s highlighted statements and when he says, “She’s not just an object, after all,” shoot the Truth Sword, Miu’s Avatar.

The strange occurrence was the Loud Noise.

Mind Mine

Clear the boxes and click on the Signboard.

  • The river was the point at which the signboard was swept away. The Chapelside is at the end of the river. After the signboard was swept away, it was found on the Mansionside. The signboard floated against the current.

The wall added by Miu is connected to the unnatural way the signboard was swept.

  • The signboard ended up upstream because the downstream and upstream connect. The chapel and mansion walls are the same wall.

Hangman’s Gambit

Spell out World Loops.

Spot Selection

The looping point is at the line in the middle.

The sound was Miu hitting the wall.

Spell Slid off Roof.

You can proceed with one of the two options.

  • When Kaito says “There was nothing like that around, though,” hit that statement with Lattice Near Chapel. Or, with Kaito’s statement, you can instead turn the Signboard Used as Bridge as the lie, Signboard Used as a Sign, and shoot that.

Identify a Person

The liar is Kokichi Oma.

Clear the squares and click on the revealed lie, “Also, I never went to the roof, not even for the meeting.”

  • Kokichi will say “and stayed in the salon the whole time, y’know?” Turn Kokichi in the Salon to a lie, Kokichi Not in the Salon, and shoot it at Kokichi’s statement. Kaito will say “So you could’ve kept strangling her, no problem.” Hit that statement with Setting on Kokichi’s Avatar.

Debate Scrum

  • Hit Kaito’s statement with Culprit. Hit Tsumugi’s statement with Sweetheart. Hit Mako’s statement with Rooftop. Hit Kaito’s second statement with Entrance Hall. Hit Kaito’s third statement with Monokuma. Hit Himiko’s statement with Kokichi. Hit Gonta’s statement with Miu.

Gonta started saying “I don’t know” after logging into the Virtual World.

The accident concerning Gonta is an Avatar Error.

Spell out Memory Loss.

Mass Panic Debate

Kaito will say “that means there was no glitch.” Hit that statement with Device Instructions.

  • Keebo, Himiko, and Maki can be eliminated as suspects because they couldn’t access the crime scene. Kaito isn’t a suspect because he was logged out. Tsumugi and Shuichi aren’t culprits because they have solid alibis. Kokichi can’t be the culprit because he couldn’t have killed Miu.

The only person who could’ve killed Miu is Gonta Gokuhara.

Argument Armament

Fight Kaito in the rhythm game, hitting his statements to the beat. In the end, spell out Toilet Paper Discovered Outside of Mansion.

The culprit used the binoculars.

Closing Argument

Time to summarize the case, comic panel style. Put the events in the right order.

The case began the night before. Miu convinced everyone to go into the Virtual World. Everyone had to plug in memory and consciousness cords to the VR and put on headsets. The culprit made the mistake of plugging the cords in the wrong ports, making it so that they would not remember what happened in the VR world after they log out.

Miu was the last to log in, as she was planning her own crime. She planned to kill Kokichi in the VR world. She placed a bottle of poison on Kokichi’s chair as a coverup. When she logged in, she explained the world to everyone but said some lies for the purpose of her plan.

Kokichi had caught onto her scheme and developed a scheme of his own. Everyone split up, with Kaito, Shuichi, Gonta, Tsumugi, and Kokichi exploring the mansion while Maki, Keebo, Himiko, and Miu explored the chapel. Miu excused herself from her group and went back to the mansion. Miu dropped the signboard bridge in the river to make everyone think the chapel and mansion were separated.

At the mansion, everyone split up. The culprit explored outside while Miu passed through the chapel wall to get to the mansion and kill Kokichi. She was able to phase through the wall because she changed the settings of her avatar. Miu was witnessed by Tsumugi and she took out a cell phone to force Kaito to log out. She forced him to log out to make him look suspicious and because he was on the roof where she and Kokichi were going to meet.

However, Miu’s plan did not work out. As she was distracted by Kokichi, the culprit snuck up from behind and strangled her with toilet paper. The shock killed Miu in the real world. The paper didn’t break because, in VR, objects were indestructible. Kokichi returned to the salon and the culprit covered up the crime by tying Miu’s avatar, a hammer, and cellphone to a lattice and sliding it down the roof slope. The body went through the wall only objects could pass through and ended up by the chapel. This caused a crashing sound that alerted everyone.

The culprit tied toilet paper to the binoculars and used it like a rope to climb down. They threw the toilet paper in a random direction before discovered by everyone.

And that culprit is… Gonta Gokuhara.
