For the last few days, it’s been a mystery as to why Ray Fisher, the actor who played Cyborg in Justice League, “forcefully” retracted his praise for Joss Whedon’s reshoots for the 2017 film, but today Fisher elaborated, accusing Whedon of abuse during the production.

Ahead of the film’s original release, he called Whedon “a great guy” and “a good person to come in and clean up, finish up” for director Zack Snyder following his departure from the project. However, in explaining why he pulled back on those sentiments today on Twitter, Fisher described Whedon’s on-set treatment of the Justice League cast and crew as “gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.”

Fisher didn’t go into further detail regarding Whedon’s behavior, or why he chose now to open up on this, but Whedon wasn’t the only person he called out. Along with the director, he also blamed former DC Films CEO Geoff Johns and producer Jon Berg, who he said “enabled” Whedon’s actions “in many ways.”

Although Fisher’s claims remain unverified as of this writing (though it’s always possible other cast and crew members could follow up with allegations of their own), this comes at a time where several figures throughout the entertainment industries have been similarly accused of abuse and other kinds of misconduct.

Justice League is streaming on HBO Max, with the long-awaited Snyder Cut version coming in 2021.
