Dark Horse Comics and CD Projekt Red have teamed up to produce Cyberpunk 2077: Trauma Team, a comic book series.
The first issue of the series is set to for release on September 9, 2020, at the price of $3.99, while Cyberpunk 2077 proper is set to be released on November 19, 2020, after a recent delay moved it from a September release date.
The book synopsis reveals we follow Nadia, an assistant EMT for a privately-owned business known as Trauma Team International. She is the last woman standing after a rescue mission turns in a bloodbath. After surviving, she agrees to continue working on a future extraction mission, where she and her new team find themselves in an even more dangerous and life-threatening situation.
The series will be helmed by writer Cullen Bunn, whose previous work includes Uncanny X-Men and Harrow Country, and illustrator Miguel Valdaroma who worked on Giants. Trauma Team maintains the relationship that has been forged between CD Projekt Red and Dark Horse, who have previously worked together in the past to publish several comics based on the developer’s Witcher games.
In addition to the comic series, Dark Horse also announced an art book for the game called The World of Cyberpunk 2077 by Marcin Batylda. The 192-page book has a release date of July 19, 2020, and will explore all there is to know about the cybernetics, weapons, and vehicles of Cyberpunk 2077. This deluxe edition sells for $99 and in addition to the book includes an exclusive Night City map cover, a slipcase featuring Night City graffiti, temporary tattoos, a Johnny Silverhand poster who, of course, is played by the great Keanu Reeves, and four-vehicle postcards that showcase vehicles that can be found in Night City.
For any fans disappointed in the recent delay, which CD Projekt Red has said was made to stick to their mantra that a game will be “ready when it’s done,” perhaps these new announcements will whet the appetite and holdover fans eager to explore Night City. While it is unclear what part, if any, Nadia and her team will play in the main game, either way, Cyberpunk 2077 seems destined to be an experience that has gamers talking for a long time to come.
