CD Projekt Red released a brand-new trailer for Cyberpunk 2077, slated for release November 19th. The trailer highlights story elements, characters, and locations. Playing more like a movie trailer than a gameplay trailer, the new trailer features characters like Jackie Welles, Dexter “Dex” DeShawn, and as expected, Johnny Silverhand who is modeled and voiced by the always charming Keanu Reeves.
Playing as V, a mercenary who is completely customizable, you navigate through Night City, California, and its 6 regions. V’s backstory is also customizable from three options: Street Kid, Corporate, or Nomad. Depending on which one you pick, V will begin the game in a different place, with relationships with different characters.
Cyberpunk 2077’s customization options allow for different endings and paths that your character can take. Your choices may or may not lead to other character’s deaths, but it seems your own death is set in stone. The trailer shows Dex shooting V before Silverhand reboots you.
Johnny Silverhand appears as a digital ghost throughout 2077 as he was previously killed in Cyberpunk 2020. Silverhand’s character is a rocker who played in the once adored band Samurai whose music has been created by Refused.
Music acts as a big component to Cyberpunk 2077, many artists have contributed original music to the game, including Run the Jewels, A$AP Rocky, and Gazelle Twin. Grimes also appears as the frontwoman for the in-game band Lizzy Wizzy and the Metadwarves. In the trailer released today, the music was composed by Matthew James Ballamy.
Along with the new trailer, a gameplay trailer was also released today. It highlights “Braindance” gameplay in which your character is able to enter another character’s memories.
The gameplay highlights how you can view the memories from first-person as well as in “analysis mode” where you can speed up, rewind, pause and zoom in and out. You can also identify sources in the environment like background noises and conversations as well as scanning items like screens and weapons for further analysis.
