CD Projekt RED has confirmed that the Cyberpunk 2077 collector’s edition will be unavailable for fans in North America who want to buy the game on PC. This means that PC players in the region won’t be able to get items such as a figure of protagonist V, an artbook, and a map of the game’s location, Night City.

On Twitter, CD Projekt RED’s global community lead Marcin Momot confirmed that the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 being sold in North America would be digital-only. Those who purchase the game on PC in the United States or Canada will not be able to buy the game in a box and so can’t get the collector’s edition or the items in it. All other regions where the game is being sold on PC as a boxed version will get a downloadable code to get the game from GOG.com, the digital platform owned by CD Projekt RED’s parent company CD Projekt.

Momot’s tweet has received a largely negative response from PC fans of the developer. Fans want to know why CD Projekt RED is choosing not to sell the PC collector’s edition in North America and if it’s because of its NA publishing deal with Warner Bros. Interactive. Some fans, like Twitter user Craig N, say that they are happy to pay the extra price for the collector’s edition and don’t mind that it only comes with a download code. Others say that they aren’t prepared to buy Cyberpunk 2077 on PC and pay for a console collector’s edition too just so that they can get the collector’s items.

Fans also want to know if there is anything that they can do to get the Cyberpunk 2077 developer to change its mind, or to offer a boxed PC collector’s edition at a later date. Fans have waited nearly years for the game and only got to see the first Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay last year, so having to wait a few more months for collector’s items doesn’t seem like much.

CD Projekt RED knows how much its fans love the game, and has just announced that one excited fan who screamed for Keanu Reeves will be getting a free collector’s edition. PC players in North America will be hoping that the developer will also listen to their feedback and will make the collector’s edition available in the region too.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on April 16, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
