Much like GTA and the like, cars are a big interest for an open-world video game. You can buy the car you can’t afford in real life and take a cruise, or steal cars and run people over for… Fun? Whatever floats your boat. Acquiring cars is quite different in Cyberpunk 2077 than it is in other games with similar core gameplay.

There are multiple different ways to get a car or two for yourself and the route you want to take to get them is completely up to you and your video game morals. Steal, buy, be grateful, and make do with what you originally have, the choices are all yours. You gotta have the Eddies or the strength to pull it off.

7 Steal Them

Go ahead, just take it. Just not in front of the NCPD. If you see a nice car on the street or in a parking lot that you’d prefer over your own rust bucket, you have the power to simply take it. You do need Body strength though. The higher your core Body ability is, the bigger and better cars you can hijack off the road. So if you intend on stealing your way to success, you might wanna upgrade your Body. If you choose to only do this, it won’t save into your system when you press the corresponding button to call your vehicle.

6 Origin Cars

One debatable positive to choosing Nomad as your origin is that you get a free car. In the introduction to Nomad you’re automatically in your own car until it gets totaled. It’s assumed you’d never see it again, but as you progress in the game you can find it again. It’s debatable whether this is a positive since the car has a specific taste to it that’s probably not similar to the shiny cars you’ve been offered at this point in the game.

5 Database Info

Here is where you’ll find all the cars you could ever want, see, and potentially afford. If you press I, at the bottom right corner of the screen you’ll see the word database. This is where you can read up on all things Cyberpunk 2077.

The database has information on NPC’s, locations, world lore, and tutorials. But it also has cars. If you saw a car on the street and don’t know what it’s called you can scroll through the database and find out.

4 Delamain

Delamain is a talking automated vehicle. Or something. We’re not sure. But he’s here to help! What once was a free ride turned into… Another free ride. While working with Dexter Deshawn at the beginning of the game, he pays for this expensive cab service known as Delamain to get you from point A to point B. Things, as usual, don’t go as planned but Delamain makes it up to you after a while with a fresh new ride. You just have to follow up with him and wait a while.

3 Road Rules

Are you wondering if there are road rules? What with police getting offended at you for breathing near them and all. Well, not really. You can be the worst driver ever, just not the worst worst. Driving over civilians is a no-no. So is driving over people’s toes. Just stay away from the civilians if you can, accidents happen.

But other cars on the street will freely run over you if you don’t wait for the crosswalk to give you the go and you’ll for sure lose health over it. Either wait for the crosswalk like a normal NPC or run for your life when it’s high traffic. If you’re in a car and blocking the way they will honk at you. You may even find yourself blocked by natural traffic. Other than that, bumping into cars is fine!

2 Rides Side Quests

There’s no mechanic shop or garage to go to in order to buy cars and customize your ride. You just have to wait for a Fixer or friend to offer you some. This happens only after the first bang in the main story. All you have to do is do jobs and wait. Soon enough Regina will start offering you cars and then other people from around the city will. These will show up as quests in a quest tab titled Rides. This way you can fast travel or find it with ease and pay the money up front.

1 Saved Cars

If you steal cars for a living, you better remember where you park them. Stolen cars will not get saved into your system because you don’t own them, so pressing V to call your vehicle will only bring the one you don’t want. Any other vehicles you bought off Fixers or got given as a favor will stay in your system, though. If you press V, the last car you rode in will show up. If you hold V down for a second, a list will pop up so you can pick and choose which ride you want next.
