It’s easy to get swept up by the entertaining bugs and compelling story line of Cyberpunk 2077, but every time you stop and stare at a small corner of Night City, you get a taste of the details inside this lived-in world. From talking vending machines to your favorite commercial on TV, there’s always something to stop and stare at.
At any point in time you can visit your apartment in Night City, sit down on your couch and enjoy some toons. Or some news. You can sift through all the channels like it’s Saturday morning with some cereal. During The Heist mission, you can also control and watch the TV in the hotel room. In the streets and elevators, you’ll often hear TV screens talking about recent news, but these don’t show you the various other stations and advertisements Cyberpunk 2077 has to offer.
16 54 News
This is the main news station. If you listen to it at intervals throughout your progress of the main story you’ll notice the hosts touch on incidents you may or may not have been apart of. Before the main story gets going, you can hear about the state of the city’s politics before going into things. You can learn that an Arasaka parade will happen before even being involved yourself.
15 Food Ads
There are various food advertisements, some of which we rather not consume and others we wouldn’t mind giving a try. You can see All Foods ads selling artificial meat and vegetable products in paste form and more. There’s Captain Caliente ads, a fast food joint you can frequently see when traveling through the city. Seeing ads for a restaurant you pass by adds a realistic aspect to your adventure. NiCola is a more famous ad because players get to hear it multiple times on the streets whether they want to or not. Then you have the creepy imagery of Moonchies that honestly seem yummy.
14 WNS News
The WNS News has more public speaking on it that 54 News. Here you can watch public figures discuss hot topics that again, you may or may not become involved with. Getting to learn about the state of society before jumping into it gives you a better understanding of the more political quests. You can also hear about the public outcome of big events after the fact, if you tune in on time. These some of the positives to tuning in to a news station when you can.
13 Mr. Whitey
Everyone wants to know what things change in a futuristic world. Whether real meat exists anymore or how illegal or legal drugs get. For the latter, we can safely assume using cocaine is normalized in this cyberpunk future.
The Mr. Whitey advertisement shares a consumable product that suspiciously resembles and relates to cocaine. Perhaps this isn’t a huge surprise for the future since marijuana is now legal in certain parts of the world. Or maybe this isn’t a drug at all but rather a joke for some candy like the Popeye candy cigarettes. We will go with candy.
12 Vargas Cigarettes
You’ll often see this advertisement in the streets for what looks like cigarettes. An eye catching addition to these Vargas ads is the warnings. They can range from “you might contract health conditions” to “your genitals will stop working”. The warning picture shown will help you deduce which one they are referring to at the time. It’s safe to say cigarettes will be around for a long time.
11 Night After Night With Ziggy Q
This is the only talk show you can watch on TV in Night City. It’s worth tuning into because Ziggy’s pink couch frequents the buttocks of not political figures, but celebrities with strong opinions. You can watch two people who are vastly different get heated about topics like is Arasaka’s Secure Your Soul bio-chip even moral? The show touches on topics that you as the player are wondering as well but that the figures you run into won’t necessarily get into. Here you get to hear what the public is thinking and see that the world of Cyberpunk 2077 is aware of the different sides of society.
10 Cologne
This ad for cologne can make people, and streamers, panic a bit. It begins with flashes of seductive and suggestive imagery of men who appear to be lowering their pants. Their 20 pack abs bare and their hand lowering with the camera. Fear not though, because the advertisement doesn’t actually show anything inappropriate. It’s just to get the people going. Definitely one of those cologne ads that mean to say “You put me on and you’ll be the sexist man in the world.”
9 Safe And Sound
If you stay tuned on the news for a while you’ll find yourself watching a considerably long segment on public safety created by the NCPD for citizen viewing and education. It’s almost like those little informative cartoons you were forced to watch as a kid about school bus safety.
The Safe And Sound program gives citizens important information like what to do if there’s a cyberpsycho attack at your nearest grocery store on a Thursday afternoon. The entire thing is animated with 3D cartoons, making all humans dogs so it’s better to digest for children and such.
8 N54
N54 is just another version of 54 News with all your advertisements and latest news, but this channel has the segment Chip.In where a chrome-plated host fills viewers in on the latest cyberware technology and even showcases the new technology herself. She promotes these softwares and gives out codes to the audience for percentages off. It’s almost like tuning in to that one YouTube channel that reviews Apple tech for your every day consumer.
7 Cyberware Ads
It isn’t a cyberpunk future if there’s no advertisements by big companies trying to coerce the public into getting cybernetic implants. There’s different versions. In the photo above is a more troubling advertisement sure to scare away nearby kids. It shows a naked man ripping his skin off of his face along side a weirdly worded question. Why the word meat, guys? There’s also cyberware ads for more storage space in your brain!
6 Crystal Palace Getaway
It’s the year 2077! Of course we can go to the moon, honey! But only if you’re rich. We saw that coming, though. There’s a special, high-end casino get-away located outside of Earth itself. Anyone can go there, so long as they have the money. There’s an advertisement urging viewers to text “Space” to a number for their chance to win a vacation at the one and only outer space Crystal Palace. We’d like to see the odds of winning that one, though.
5 Braindance Advertisements
Braindance’s were new technology meant to improve things like movies and education. But everything good gets used and abused at some point. Now they are widely used for sexual services. These types of ads can be seen everywhere promoting the latest sex Braindance available.
4 Company Ads
The big boys have to remind us who’s in charge every now and again. You can see advertisements for people like loan companies or wider known names like BioTechnica, not really selling a product but rather showcasing their company and what they excel at.
3 Guns
This is America we are playing inside in Night City. The right to bare arms will never die so long as the citizens of of the USA, or rather, NUSA have anything to say about it. You can see advertisements of families on these ads wielding guns from the pregnant mother to the very children.
2 Musicians
Singing has never been more epic than in the cyberpunk future where every artist is chrome-plated and as perfect as a robot. There are advertisements promoting bands and singers going on tour just like any other.
1 Just Ads
Last but not least you have a TV channel just for ads called JustAds. We expected this. It’s almost funny since advertisements are getting more and more heavy and not less annoying in the slightest. With all the production and money that would probably go into creating entertaining advertisements in the far future, it makes sense to have a channel dedicated to them where some cyber-gonk on a couch might be searching to invest in the latest scam.
