Cyberpunk 2077’s absence from the PlayStation Store appears to be nearing its end as multiple signs point towards its imminent return.
It has now been six months since Sony made the decision to delist Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation store. This morning, people started to spot clues that the six-month absence might be nearing its end as the option to add Cyberpunk to your PS Store wishlist was reintroduced. Since then, more signs that the game is almost back have continued to trickle through.
Next was the discovery that some who had bought a digital copy of Cyberpunk from the PS Store before it was removed now have the option to re-download the game. The only block missing, which is still not back in place at this time, is for all-new customers to buy the game. However, as you can see below, Cyberpunk’s listing now says the game is “coming soon”.
All of this suggests Cyberpunk is almost entirely back on the PS Store. In fact, at the rate new information has been rearing its head, the game could be available by the end of the day. Every time CD Projekt Red has been asked about its return, the team behind the game has been unsurprisingly stand-offish, stating that the decision is Sony’s alone to make.
However, when questioned about Cyberpunk’s PS Store removal back in December, CDPR stated it and Sony made the joint decision to delist the game. That doesn’t mean the studio hasn’t been keen to get it back up, though. Not only has it not been able to sell digital copies of the game to PlayStation owners for the past six months, but it has also admitted the absence has affected Cyberpunk sales on other platforms.
CDPR’s quest to turn Cyberpunk into the behemoth it was always supposed to be continues, and its return to the PS Store is a major piece of that puzzle. CDPR and Cyberpunk had to prove to Sony that it was hitting unspecified metrics before it would entertain putting the game back on its digital storefront. It seems those metrics have been hit, and CDPR can now continue on what appears to be a pretty busy roadmap for Cyberpunk.
