The world of Cyberpunk 2077 is full of colorful characters. From the spunky upstart that is Jackie Wells to the cool and collected Dexter DeShawn, players will run into a wide, varied cast while they play as V. One of those characters is Panam Palmer, a Nomad woman that V ends up helping during his romp through Night City.
Panam is only really present in Cyberpunk 2077 for two missions, with the rest of her story arc being completely optional. However, even for the players that go through Panam’s complete story, she can remain a mystery. There’s a lot more to this character though, including some details players may skip over.
10 Panam Can Be Romanced By V
Since Cyberpunk 2077 is a CD Projekt Red PRG, there are a few givens. First off, there are plenty of fleshed-out NPCs to talk to. Second off, a lot of them are just flat-out hot. Finally, some of those NPCs can be romanced. However, that pool of potential partners thins depending on which gender you pick for V.
Players that pick a male version of V will have the option of romancing Panam open to them. Even then, it’s making it work with the Nomad is extremely difficult. Part of her personality is extreme hesitance with V, so players have to be careful when choosing dialogue options with her if they want a relationship to work out.
9 She Is A Deadly Shot
Every character in Cyberpunk 2077 that fights with V has their own style. They’re either a solo, a netrunner, or something in between. Panam fits into that last strange category, as she doesn’t do much hacking but she also doesn’t fight on the front lines. Instead, she stands far behind V, letting them do the work while she uses a sniper.
In fact, players that go on to work with Panam in some side missions will be rewarded with one of her sniper rifles. Named the Overwatch Sniper, the rifle has clear inspiration from Widowmaker’s sniper rifle in Overwatch. It’s also one of the most powerful physical sniper rifles in Cyberpunk 2077.
8 Panam Doesn’t Sport Much Chrome
Almost every character in Cyberpunk 2077 has one thing in common: chrome. Cybernetic implants that somehow enhance their senses or connect them to the net. They’re a huge part of the game, even V can get a ton of different implants that let them jump higher or even slow down time.
However, Panam Palmer is one of the few characters that doesn’t have that many implants. Or at least, the ones she does have aren’t visible. It’s assumed that she at least has an ocular implant like many other characters, but past that, she doesn’t have any visible on her head, hands or arms. That also means that Panam can’t use many of the game’s hacking abilities.
7 Panam Is Rather Impulsive
One of the things that players may not pick up on while they’re talking to Panam is that she’s got a lot of attitude. She’s very headstrong and champions her beliefs. That often manifests in her making decisions without thinking them through, resulting in some awkward situations once V gets involved.
Panam’s impulsiveness takes her on assaults on enemy bases, and eventually on a raid against Militech. Of course, players can get in the middle of these affairs, and depending on their choices, either encourage Panam’s impulsiveness or push back against it. Of course, she’s not really one to take no for an answer.
6 Panam Has A Problem With Authority
From the first time players run into Panam, she’s in trouble with some authority figures. The player’s first experience with the merc is in a mission assigned by the city’s top fixer, Rogue. However, it’s quickly revealed that although Rogue is her boss, Panam doesn’t hesitate when it comes to calling her out.
That behavior continues the entire time V is with Panam. She constantly questions authority and often doesn’t listen to people in positions of power. Instead, she does what she feels is right, and while her intentions may always be good, the results don’t always follow suit.
5 V Never Meets Panam’s Parents
Most of the characters players will meet in Cyberpunk 2077 have fleshed-out backstories. These stories aren’t presented as soon as a character is met, players have to do a bit of digging. Panam is one of those characters, but even if players go through her entire story arc, there are some details that they’ll never learn.
One of those stand-out details about Panam that are never revealed is her parents. As a Nomad, family is extremely important to Panam, but players never see or hear about her biological parents. Instead, it’s insinuated that she was raised by the Aldecados, her clan.
4 Panam’s Drink Of Choice Is Beer
Night City is a place of vice and sin. It should be no surprise that almost every character V encounters in the game has a specific drink of choice. Jackie Welles and Johnny Silverhand even share a favorite liquor in tequila. Panam Palmer is unlike most characters though, in that she’s not the biggest fan of liquor.
Instead, a majority of times players end up drinking with Panam her choice is beer. At one point, players drink with Panam at a motel after finishing a job. The Nomad woman quickly downs an entire bottle of Broseph Brew before ordering another. Now, she could have just been thirsty after a long day’s work, but that doesn’t seem too likely.
3 Panam’s Voice Actor Has A History In Anime
One of the most special things about Cyberpunk 2077 is the game’s spectacular voice acting. Besides Keanu Reeves, the game features the voice talents of Jason Hightower (Star Wars: Resistance) as Jackie Welles and Charami Leigh (Dorehedoro) as female V. While Panam Palmer’s voice actor isn’t as prevalent, she still has quite a history.
Panam’s voice comes courtesy of Emily Woo Zeller. Outside of voicing Panam Palmer, much of Zeller’s resume includes various roles in anime. She is credited with voicing Bryony from Pokemon, Tom-Tom from Air Gear, and Shimako Toudou in Maria Watches Over Us.
2 Panam Is Fiercely Anti-Corp
In Cyberpunk 2077, megacorporations play a massive role. They are present in nearly every aspect of life, create the cybernetics most people have, and have even waged massive, world-changing wars. It should be no surprise then that large groups of people really, really don’t like corps. Panam Palmer is one of those that take a staunch position against the massive businesses.
Over the course of her sidequests, Panam makes it crystal clear that she’s not a fan of corporations. She even pushes the leader of her clan, Saul, to avoid making a deal with BioTehnica for protection.
1 Panam Has A Goofy Side
The characters in Cyberpunk 2077 that V develops relationships with are often humanized. Their backstories are slowly revealed or they go through some sort of crisis. But the other side of tragedy is comedy, and the few rare funny moments with NPCs are some of the most memorable in the game.
Panam’s goofy side is shown off after one of her side missions. While she, V, and the Aldecaldo clan leader Saul are taking shelter from a sand storm, Panam starts doing a bit. She treats V like he’s running a motel, and soon the two are doing silly voices and making each other laugh. It’s one of the few wholesome moments in the game.
