Crunchyroll might be more well-known for its large library of anime, but the streaming service is no stranger to the video game industry. Outside of its previous streaming deal with Twitch Prime, the company has branched into video game publication. And now, it is ready to reveal its next title. A recent trailer announced that Crunchyroll Games would be localizing Overlord: Mass for the Dead for Western audiences.
First released in 2019 for Japanese audiences, Overlord: Mass for the Dead is based off of a popular anime. Much like some of Crunchyroll’s other offerings, the game is a mobile app with RPG elements, featuring beloved characters from the anime.
According to the trailer, Mass for the Dead follows its source material’s premise about a player trapped in a shut-down MMORPG with its sentient NPCs. After providing a brief glimpse at the gameplay mechanics and animation, the end screen invites fans to pre-register for the game now.
The game’s four-star rating on some review sites seems to be an encouraging sign for excited Overlord fans. Overall, with games like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and Persona 5 Royal, it’s a great time to be both an anime fan and a gamer, and to get additional content about fans’ favorite characters.
Overlord: Mass for the Dead will be available soon for Android and iOS.
