Sam’s Sweet Tribute to the 5 Year Anniversary of Critical Role

Usually, Sam makes a comedic bit for the ad spots he performs each week. However, in this episode, in order to honor the 5th anniversary of Critical Role, he sang a short but sweet song. The tune made a few references to iconic moments throughout the show’s first and second campaigns, and it was very touching, surprising the cast and the audience who believed Sam would pull the rug out from everyone. Instead, the moment offered a sweet and emotional reflection of some great moments of the show’s history.

Fjord Coughes Up His Last Orb

After Caduceus brought Fjord back from the dead, it became clear that they needed to get rid of what made these followers of Uk’otoa (Uk’otoa) attack Fjord in the first place: the orb still residing in his chest. Since Fjord had seemingly broken the pact with Uk’otoa (Uk’otoa) several episodes ago, it was fitting that the orb be removed too, especially if it meant that more followers would not attempt an attack on the Mighty Nein again. Caduceus cast Greater Restoration on Fjord, which caused Fjord to quite literally cough up the orb from his chest.

Jester Attempts to Scry on the Traveler

One of the most surprising moments of this last episode was Jester’s decision to scry on the Traveler. Even with the reveal of the Traveler, also known as Artagan, as an archfey and not the god that Jester thought he was, she remained calm and maintained that she still trusted him. However, out of the blue, she decided to scry on her patron and hilariously discovered that using the powers that the Traveler gave her to scry on the Traveler doesn’t exactly work.

The implications made by this attempt are very interesting, however. Why did Jester suddenly want to scry on the Traveler now, even though she told the Mighty Nein that she had no reason to distrust him? What did she hope to gain? And if the scry had somehow worked, what was the Traveler doing at that moment?

The War is Over!

After months of the Mighty Nein working between both the Dwendalian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty of Xhorhas to create a peace agreement, the negotiations finally concluded with a decision to end the war between the two nations. Almost two days of peace talks between the nations’ leaders occurred on neutral ground before the Xhorhasian beacon was transferred back into rightful hands and the traitors to both the countries were handed over for questioning. The war had finally come to a halt.

Caleb Doesn’t Do Hugs

In light of the successful peace talks between nations, Beau asks Caleb if she can give him a congratulatory hug. Historically, Caleb hasn’t been the most comfortable with hugs, but he tries his best to reciprocate, even a little. Meanwhile, outside of the game, the concern of COVID-19 is present and the cast makes jokes about Marisha and Liam spreading the virus as she rubs her face against his.
