Hello, Critters! In the aftermath of an intense episode, this week’s episode was a little calmer. Some of the best moments of Campaign 2, Episode 106 of Critical Role include Hamilton (but not really), a magnificent first flight, a fractured community, the beginnings of adventure, and a hilarious play on words.

Spoilers ahead for Campaign 2, Episode 106 of Critical Role.

Totally Not Hamilton

Sam’s ads are a highlight of every episode, and this one is no exception. Sam donned a Hamilton-esque outfit and tried to sing a song that was similar enough to the style of the musical while still being copyright free. Sam’s performance this week was to advertise Skillshare, and although it was not centered on hacking, it still made for a great moment.

Brand New Wings

In last week’s episode, Yasha experienced a dream from her deity, the Storm Lord, which showed her gaining new wings as part of her redemption arc. As Yasha attempted to save both herself and Beau in this week’s episode, she flew up into the air, her brand new wings from the Storm Lord manifesting themselves in real life as well. In addition, Beau and Yasha got to share a sweet moment together, as Yasha carried her through the sky on her very first flight.

“Fractured Whole”

In the aftermath of the defeat of Vokodo, the rest of the island’s residents had their memories returned to them once again. The Mighty Nein arrived back at the camp they came across when they first came to the island, only to find panic and uncertainty as the former Vo people come to terms with their returned identities and the current situation. After the initial panic, however, the residents attempted to hold things together for one last night as a group, as they were once a community for decades before they regained their memories from before the island. In this traumatic and difficult situation, there were glimmers of hope and community in the darkness that gave the Mighty Nein hope that they will all be ok, no matter what each individual decides to do after that situation. After talking with some of these people, the party determined that although the truth was hard to process, it was better that they defeated Vokodo and returned the memories of the island than for the residents to live in ignorance for the rest of their lives; they can choose their own destiny.

So…TravelerCon?

In the midst of all this chaos, the Mighty Nein are quickly reminded of the entire reason they came to the island of Rumblecusp in the first place as the first travelers for TravelerCon arrived at the camp. There was a bit of uncertainty as Jester and the rest of the party struggled to allow the former Vo people to process their memories returning while finding lodging for the new arrivals with the convention only a week away.

The VO Community

After retrieving quite a bit of money and treasure from their fight with Vokodo, the Mighty Nein decide to divide the money amongst themselves, with the possibility of sharing it with some of the former Vo people. Sam, who has been making VO (voice-over) community jokes nearly since finding out that the residents of Rumblecusp were called the Vo, agrees, and there are bouts of laughter and face-palming among the cast of professional voice-actors.

Critical Role will be taking a week break but you can watch new episodes again on Thursday, August 27th, at 7pm PDT on their Twitch channel.
