If cute life sims are exactly your thing, you’re going to fall in love with Cozy Grove. This adorable indie game has just come out for PC, iOS, Playstation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. The game has been compared to Animal Crossing since it has some similar mechanics and tends to be quite relaxing.

Just like most sim games, there is a lot to learn and some adjusting to do before completely emerging yourself into it. But, we’ve got you covered. If you’ve just started your adventure for the very first time make sure to look at our tips for beginners guide. One thing you’ll want to get your hands on is a shovel. Luckily, you can do this pretty early in the game simply by helping Jeremy Gruffle, a sweet Bear spirit. Here’s how you can help this poor spirit.

Where To Find Jeremy Gruffle

Jeremy Gruffle will appear on the island after you’ve spoken to Charlotte Pine and placed spirit wood into the fire (Flamey).

You will then be able to see more of the world that surrounds you. An exclamation mark will appear on your screen, if you walk towards it you will find Jeremy Gruffle. You will have to find three branches for him.

How To Find Branches

You will need to gather three branches but where can you find them? Since everyone’s world is a bit different due to procedurally generated changes, it’s not possible to pinpoint exactly where the branches will be. But thankfully, Jeremy Gruffle will appear in your Quest Log and give you hints on the branch locations.

Some of the hints that you might get will point you in the direction of a place that you can easily identify. For example, these are some of the hints you could receive “close by a dead tree with a bird’s nest”, “near three skulls”, “near two skulls tied to stakes”, and so on.

But, if you’re not sure where to look for the hints to try and spot the branches, they are usually scattered around the beach just below Jeremy Gruffle or in the foresty area that surrounds him.

Acquiring The Shovel

Once you’ve found three branches, return to Jeremy Gruffle. He will be very grateful and since you’ve now advanced the story a bit further, he will award you with a shovel. After this, he will also be available whenever you’d like and you will be able to repair tools by speaking to him.

Now with the shovel in hand, you will be able to do more things. This tool allows you to dig up soft dirt mounds to acquire more items and materials. You can only progress up until a certain point of the story each day because, just like Animal Crossing, you can only do so much before you run out of resources and things to do around your visible area.

Of course, you can time travel and it works in every format of the game so don’t worry if you’ve done everything you can for today but still want to keep on playing.
