How To Install A Code Vein Mod

Installing mods for Code Vein is relatively straightforward, as it just requires creating a folder dedicated to these downloads in the game’s main directory.

Please note that if a mod comes with different install instructions, those should be followed instead.

10 DualShock 4 Button Prompt Replacement

Mods exist to make an experience more convenient and to satisfy wishes that the base game might not be able to answer. While Code Vein on PC supports the DualShock 4, the PlayStation controller needs to be connected to the computer and the in-game prompts are not adapted to match it.

This mod makes it possible to play Code Vein using a wireless DualShock 4 and also swaps out the Xbox button prompts for PlayStation ones. A great option to have available.

9 Quick Mobility Dash Effect Replacers

Anything can be made to look cooler, and Code Vein is no exception. Bandai Namco filled the game with epic weapons, some of which have neat elemental effects. However, the combat system, in general, could use a bit more visual excitement.

This mod turns the simple act of dashing into a feast for the eyes. The mod comes with an array of styles for you to pick from. Want the protagonist to leave a trail of fire? This mod has you covered. How about blood? This mod, once again, has you covered.

8 Weapon Variety Pack

Code Vein’s arsenal of pointy things can be expanded greatly through mods, with most typically focusing on a specific franchise. Opting to cast a wider net, the Weapon Variety Pack adds weapons from multiple popular franchises to Code Vein, including Devil May Cry and Dark Souls.

As tends to be the case with these types of mods, this release swaps out weapons found in the game with its own creations. Get ready to kill some Lost using Bayonetta’s Holy Glaive.

7 Custom Weapon Trails

As you traverse the various locations found in Code Vein’s world, you will engage in endless battles with the Lost. While not completely devoid of a story, Code Vein undoubtedly pushes its combat to the forefront; consequently, adding some more visual flair to the simple act of swinging a blade can elevate the entire experience.

The Custom Weapon Trails mod is compatible with all the weapon types in the game, and it can even work with items added through other mods. The package comes with a variety of effects, so it’s up to you to pick one.

6 Playable Mia Karnstein

  • Creator: MiaCV

A popular modding subcategory focuses on taking NPCs and making them playable, and Code Vein has a respectable collection of companions worthy of such treatment. Out of all the available NPCs, Mia Karnstein is certainly among the most popular, partially due to her fiery aesthetic.

This mod not only makes Mia playable but adds a wide selection of looks for the characters; in fact, it boasts all versions of the companion. The mod does have specific instructions that need to be followed to properly install it, so please make sure to read through the creator’s guide.

5 PartySpawner

  • Creator: Clanzion
  • Link To Mod

This mod is a Work In Progress, so some bugs and issues are to be expected. That being said, PartySpawner is such a great concept for a mod that it just has to be highlighted.

This mod simply allows seven more companions to accompany the protagonist on their journey. One main companion will still need to be selected, but there is an option to switch mid-game. With an army of revenants at your disposal, the Lost will not stand a chance.

4 Playable 2B

  • Creator: Rathren

While crossovers do occasionally happen, fans generally have to turn to mods if they want to see two unlikely universes combine forces. Nier: Automata’s 2B rose to prominence due to the character’s intriguing backstory, marketable design, and personality.

Aesthetically, 2B is a seamless fit for Code Vein, as both properties have anime influences. While Code Vein’s combat is more slow-paced than Nier: Automata’s battle system, 2B hardly looks out of place wielding a massive hammer or a cool polearm. There are also mods available that add Nier: Automata’s weapons to Code Vein, specifically renpyon’s Nier Automata Virtuous Contract and Blood Oath and Nier Automata Virtuous Treaty and Cruel Blood Oath.

3 Invisible Mask 1 For Male And Female

  • Creator: gatomiau
  • Link To Mod

Sometimes, small aesthetic changes can make a world of difference, particularly in a game that spans dozens upon dozens of hours. Due to the Lost radiating miasma, the playable character has to wear a purifier mask throughout the game. These provide no benefits, so they just alter the character’s look.

While these gas masks are somewhat cool, their existence nullifies the point of creating a unique character. Suddenly, everyone is playing with samey soldiers (revenants, in-game) for the majority of the campaign. This mod removes the mask. Gatomiau also has a mod that does the same for the inner frame.

2 Improved Visuals And Performance

  • Creator: stoker25

Although by no means a hideous game, Code Vein does suffer from uneven visuals and the occasional stutter. There is certainly room for improvement, a task that stoker25 took upon themselves to complete.

This mod alters and improves Code Vein in various ways, be it through its draw distance, TAA filtering, or texture loading process. Permitting someone can run the base game at its highest setting, this mod is certainly worth a download. It also comes with a performance-focused configuration option.

1 UE4 Reshade - True HDR

  • Creator: Vanguard1776

Another mod designed to elevate Code Vein’s visuals, UE4 Reshade does an amazing job bringing out the game’s colors and effects. Code Vein’s graphics can be a bit washed out at times, but this True HDR mod adds a significant amount of depth to the game’s overall look.

All these mods are worth picking up, but this is one that should be prioritized if someone is finding it especially difficult to get into Code Vein’s visual style.
